He may not be as popular anymore, but I would definitely not consider him a "one hit wonder". He made a lot of quality music, quality production, nice signature voice. There's something "magical" about his sound. It produces an emotion that is lacking in other popular artists. I saw him live at the House of Blues in Chicago, and it amazed me how every song in his set was remixed / adapted for a live setting. He had an amazing guitar player, a drummer, bass / background keyboard player, lead keyboard player that also did background vocals. It was a nice journey, not just mindlessly playing a background instrumental track and singing on top, or doing a "dj set" like many EDM artists do. Very few Electronica artists can pull off a truly "live" event. The guy is way underrated for his musicianship and creativity.

Biblical explanation of the Gospel: God doesn’t want anybody in hell, but you must understand why we deserve hell and why those who refuse to live under His authority will go there. He gave us the law (Ten Commandments) not to make us righteous, but rather to show us our sin (Romans 3:20). God gave us free will and since Adam sinned in the garden, sin is the nature of our flesh and we ALL have sinned. (Romans 3:23) The law demands death to those who sin (Romans 6:23). Since we have all sinned, we all deserve hell. Revelation 21:8 says that all liars will go to hell. Yes, even if you have lied once in your life, you are sentenced to hell - that's how high God's standards are of moral perfection because God is holy and righteous, there is not one sin in Him. For someone to be justified before holy God they have to be sinless, that's why everyone need Jesus Christ - for He lived a sinless life, died on the cross and rose from the dead on the third day. None of us are good in God’s eyes, because for God good means moral perfection. We all have broken God’s commandments, we all have sinned in our lives so none of us are good. ‘’For whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles at just one point is guilty of breaking all of it.’’ (James 2:10). Our carnal mind is hostile to God; it does not submit to God's moral law and it never will (Romans 8:7). We hate the thought of God for the same reason a criminal hates a policeman - we know we have sinned against God and are guilty of it and we don't want to be damned. No good works will ever save you. You can't earn salvation by good works, because God will judge us for our sin. Good News is that Jesus Christ lived a perfect, holy, sinless life and He died for our sins according to the Scriptures, He was buried and He was raised from the dead on the third day according to the Scriptures (1 Corinthians 15:3-4) For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.’’ (John 3:16) We aren’t saved by our good works, but only by the grace of God through faith in Christ. ''For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith - and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God - not by works, so that no one can boast. (Ephesians 2:8-9) Jesus said ‘’it is finished’’ (John 19:30) just before He died on the cross, which means He paid the fine for our sins (past, present, future) to be forgiven only IF we repent and trust in Him. This is how you can get saved from sin and hell - repent of your sins and trust in Jesus Christ. Get to know Him by reading God's Word. So if you sinful people know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him.” (Luke 11:13) ''What then? Shall we sin because we are not under law but under grace? Certainly not!'' (Romans 6:15) ''Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out'' (Acts 3:19) Repentance is a turning away from sin and all evil works, and it always results in changed behavior (Luke 3:8). Biblically, a person who repents does not continue willfully in sin. While sorrow from sin is not equivalent to repentance, it is certainly an element of scriptural repentance (2 Corinthians 7:10). Do not play a hypocrite. ''God is light; in Him there is no darkness at all. If we claim to have fellowship with Him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live out the truth.'' (1 John 1:5-6) (John 3:3) Jesus replied, "Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again." If you have repented and have genuine faith in Jesus Christ then you will receive the gift of Holy Spirit and be born-again spiritually. When you believed, you were marked in Him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession - to the praise of His glory. (Ephesians 1:13-14) Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life; whoever does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him. (John 3:36) ''You will know them by their fruits'' (Matthew 7) If you have been truly born-again with the Holy Spirit and He has regenerated your heart, you will desire righteousnes - to do what is good and righteous in God's eyes, to seek God everyday in His Word and prayer, to strengthen your relationship with God. You will no longer desire to willfully continue living in sin but will want to obey God out of your love for Him because of His amazing grace revealed to us through the death and resurrection of His Son. ''Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.'' (2 Corinthians 5:17) ''For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.'' (Eph 2:10) You will have a testimony - of what your life had been before and how has it changed now when you have surrendered it to Lord Jesus Christ. As a declaration and affirmation of your faith in Jesus Christ, get baptised in water because He commanded us to do so. In John 3:5 Jesus answered, “Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit.'' ''Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit'' (Matthew 28:19) ''Those who accepted his message were baptized, and about three thousand were added to their number that day.'' (Acts 2:41) ''And this water symbolizes the baptism that now saves you also - not the removal of dirt from the body, but the pledge of a clear conscience toward God - through the resurrection of Jesus Christ,'' (1 Peter 3:21) ''We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.'' (Romans 6:4) ''Having been buried with him in baptism, in which you were also raised with him through your faith in the working of God, who raised him from the dead.'' (Colossians 2:12) Please get right with God and get to know Jesus Christ personally today before it’s too late, because there’s not much time left! "But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.’’ (Mark 13:32) Get to know Christ through God's Word - Bible. At first I recommend reading Gospel of John and book of Romans. God bless you! Jeremiah 29:13 - ''You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.''

You could also be thinking of Breanne Duren, who isn’t a part of the band but lends her vocals on many Owl City songs. It is also possible that you have confused Owl City with Panic! At the Disco, which has a story similar to what you described.

adam young is that DUDE! been listening for over 10 years now, and I’ve never lost the admiration i’ve had for him. he’s the reason I fell in love with music and I could never repay him for that. he sings about what matters to him and what world he wants to paint, and that’s hard to come by anymore. all around he is one of the most humble, genuine, and talented people “in the game” side note: when people call him mr owl or any variation that isn’t Adam, cracks me up.

This is poorly researched. He didn't fall at all not even once. He's always been more lowkey and just happy to put out inspiring music. He's put out a lot of amazing albums and other side projects even way before "Owl City" and that's how he's liked it ever since. The guy's literally a musical genius. He's put out projects apart from Owl City that were just soundtracks he composed. Even a whole album of orchestra music. (Also listen to An Airplane Carried Me to Bed under "Sky Sailing" which is also his project. Beautiful lyrics and acoustic sounds. Amazing amazing album) He enjoys his privacy and ability to just create. He never wanted to be relevant like that. I have been a fan since 2008 and saw him live a few times. Last time I saw him live was 2015 and several thousands of people went

Owl City is an artist I genuinely like. I remember listening to him since 2009 and he's one of the only artists I still enjoy to this day. It honestly never occured to me to even look at the popularity of his albums - of course, I knew Fireflies did well, but it never factored into my love for his work. For me, Adam's music was always a type of oasis, a place on the cusp of dreams and yet loosely rooted in reality that I could visit and thoroughly enjoy whenever I wanted. It was safe - homely. I just wish he knew the huge role he's played in my life, and how much his music has changed me... (Oh, and I agree wholeheartedly. All Things Bright and Beautiful is in my opinion the peak of his work, although I must say I hold a special fondness for Ocean Eyes, as it was the first of his albums I ever heard or owned...)

Short answer: (I learned this in music career class) Record companies often have one or two big acts that make them tons of money. Like Beyoncé or Taylor Swift. With a small fraction of the money those bigger artists make, record companies loan this money to the smaller artists to pay for studio time and musicians (mixers, producers, background singers, etc.) They basically throw these small acts at the wall and see if they stick. The expectation is that these artists make back what they’ve been given and more. If they don’t, they’re dropped from the label. If they do, they’re given more money and the cycle continues unless they make it big. And often times, in the pop genre, unless they make it big, the plug can be pulled at anytime.

I love the surreal feeling you get with his music, they give you a feeling as if you're getting whisked away into a wondrous place of his imagination. And I can only say that is true for a few artists out there, no matter how popular they are, it's a feeling they can never replicate.

You know, it is really refreshing to see an artist like him. He spent some time in the spotlight and enjoyed it, but didn't let it go to his head. When he fell out of the spot light, it was not because of any scandal, but simply because of his own doing. He's still loved and still makes music and loves what he does, but he's not worried about keeping all eyes on him. His so, "My Everything," Is my favorite and I think it tells about exactly why he hasen't had any scandal around him. He's following Jesus and says is his song, "Hallelujah My almighty God divine Hallelujah I am yours and you are mine" He's a light in the dark. Thank God for people like him. God Bless

I actually like adams music more now than I did originally when it all came out. It’s a seasoned aged beauty and genre that really hasn’t even been repeated. The guy is masterful at creating imagery and a beautiful world of positive emotion with his music. I am delighted to be able to share his music with my Kids now that I’m older since it’s clean and catchy. In a way I feel there’s a youthful innocence to it that draws people in.

Kind of a dumb review to be honest. He was never a pop star; it was a total fluke one of his songs went viral. He just makes the music that he loves and he doesn’t pretend to have a mainstream appeal. I am a huge fan and went to a concert just last week, it was a small venue and he made a reference to his faith in God during the show. He’s not exactly trying to be a pop star haha

Ezra actually he’s made 2 viral songs, he’s also made music for several movies, the guardians, the croods, and wreck it Ralph, it’s just that not a lot people recognize his songs for the masterpieces they are, he is probably one of the greatest song writers of all time in my opinion

Fun fact: Adam Young also wrote all of the “new” gen tunes for the iPhone ringtones and text message tones. He updated his wiki page and quickly took it down shortly after. Assume he got in some trouble from apple for listing it there. I know at least one of the tones you can hear an Owl City melody. i.e. Uplift Ringtone = Top of the World by OC Just in a different key and slightly different. :)

I'm still an Owl City fan to this day. I love Adam Young's music and his personality he shows us through his music, writing, and interviews. It's really inspiring to see. I wish I could go see him in concert again for this year's tour, but sadly I can't because of the timing ;( I'm glad though that his concerts aren't that expensive after all this time as well.

Owl City is, and has been for almost six years, my go-to music when I'm depressed. It kind of removes all the stress and anger and lets my mind relax. I honestly don't think he's written a song I dislike? A few I'm not terribly fond of, but every single one of them has merits and I can't think of one I genuinely don't like or always skip. He's also one of only two artists I've actually bought music from since 2010. Fireflies, Cinematic, House Wren, Shine Your Way, and Back Home are probably my top five, with Vanilla Twilight and Peppermint Winter tied for sixth.

Each album was based off an event/time in history, his most popular being his first which was based off the titanic. He didn't go anywhere haha I don't think, even if he didn't have a record label, that he'd ever stop making music. It's literally his art. It's like a painter who draws every day even if they don't actually sell their art. I do miss how involved he was online though... he used to have a tumblr blog and post on it like every other blogger and he would do livestream "parties" with a few lucky fans some weeks and record these little vlogs, and I just miss that era and level of intimacy between the fandom and Adam.... but he still tweets silly funny stuff and makes music, so I guess that works haha
