At 5:35 the narrator says: “The only Premier ship still around is the Rembrandt, now a hotel named S.S. Rotterdam." OH HEAVENS!! What a thing to say. The "Rembrandt" is not "now named S.S. Rotterdam." Rembrandt always WAS the Rotterdam. Rotterdam V was launched in 1958, long before "Premier Cruise Line" was a glimmer in anyone's eye. Rotterdam V was one of the last true ocean liners, a true classic built for the transatlantic trade, and her brief service as "Rembrandt" is not her historical significance, not by a long shot. She was not "converted" from Rembrandt to "a hotel named S.S. Rotterdam" -- she was lovingly restored to her glorious historical significance.

Thank you for saying this! The SS Rotterdam is a gorgeous ship, and one of the last liners in existence.

I'm so glad the Rotterdam is home where she belongs. I love the fact Rotterdam VII got to pay her tribute when departing on the 150th anniversary cruise

When I discovered that the "Oceanic" was the Big Red Boat that I cruised aboard with my girlfriend and her young son, I needed a ship's model of her to add to my collection. Couldn't find one anywhere as Big Red Boat. I did find a couple of gorgeous models of her as the Oceanic a couple of years ago. Still haven't been able to score a model of her in her Premier livery. I'd hate to die without finding one.

Premier had some classy ships…considering they were original ocean liners. I love the original promenade deck on Big Red Boat II. Some of the most ‘70s names, Star Ship Royale 😅. Love it.

I have fond memories aboard one this fleet's Big Red Boats in 1990... i believe it was the Oceanic... but I'll have to check into that... I was 7 years old and still have many happy memories of that cruise... back when cruise ships were still oceanworthy vessels...(actually were ocean liners at one time, if I'm not mistaken)... modern boxes appear like they'd capsize if you took them into remotely challenging seas... definitely wouldn't be safe for ocean crossings... but i guess they're not built for that anymore.

Great video. I had the honor of sailing on the Carnival Carnivale in 1992, Sovereign of the Seas in 1995, and Seabreeze I in 1998 Great shots of these ships at times.... 0:10 3:50 5:30

"This thing" the Southern Cross/Calypso/Ocean Breeze was one of the most beautiful classic ships ever built.. She was beautifully appointed, and retained her classic style until the end. The "ic" ending came from Home Lines, Oceanic, Atlantic, and they picked Majestic to match them since she was a former Princess ship. Their fleet of classic ships later in the company's life was a great marketing strategy, that outlived its greatness due to the newer bigger ships being built. Premier maintained their ships beautifully. Oceanic and Atlantic sailed into the 2000's Rembrandt, went BACK to her original name, Rotterdam and is thankfully, still around.

You're right it is over unfortunately even Carnival Cruise Line and Royal Caribbean back then was a completely different Cruise Line just like Premier Cruise Lines also from the classiness of the ships and the food was actually better to the traditional stuff that was so much fun also what's happened on the ships stayed on the ships and it was truly the wild west you pretty much could a get away with anything you wanted to do as long as you didn't put anybody in the hospital or catch the ship on fire I mean we had such wild fun times that they're Unforgettable in everything was the Wild West all the way until 911

Great vid! I have a question. You sound pretty young. How are your favorite cruise lines ones that are defunct, from the 80s and 90s?
