I first heard Sandy Posey's beautiful voice coming out of a Louisiana bar juke box while serving in the Army in 1966 and I have loved her ever since. When I saw the video of her singing "I Was Born A Woman" she looked so sweet and innocent I could never forget her. I'm glad she is still around and apparently doing well. Thanks for the update.

Was it near Ft Polk? I went through basic there in 1970. Posey has a powerful voice in person. She sang at a wedding I attended.

Sandy Posey has such a beautiful voice and style and she is such a tremendous natural talent. Her husband is such a great Elvis impersonator too. Real stars of music. One of the all time great female vocalists who did it her way and lives her way out of the spotlight. She is shy but a real shining star of popular/ light country music. What a success story born in Alabama but made it big in Memphis and Nashville. Just like Elvis did born in Mississippi and made it big in Memphis.

She also was a background singer on the big Percy Sledge song, Take time to know her. She was wise. She wanted to live a normal life rather than beat hertself into the ground like so many. Good for her.

Growing up i had heard "Single Girl" a countless number of times in the 1970's....later discovering my mother had this album......which was played numerous times until copied to cassette, which was played probably hundreds of times. There simply isn't a bad song on it, but "Here Comes My Baby" and "I've Been Loving You, Too Long", this last one leaves a part of my soul truly devastated..... Sandy really was an important voice of the 1960's and I love her voice dearly 🎉 I hope more people discover her.

She was smart to realize her limitations and lived her life accordingly. She was already into her 20's when the Beatles arrived. They changed everything overnight. Plenty of big time male and female vocalists saw their careers end as they were suddenly deemed old fashioned. Records were being bought by pre teen and teenagers who wanted the "new" sounds.

Love Sandy , her version of “ I’ve been loving you too long “ rivals Otis reddings . She was once the demo singer for Aretha songs. My favorite of her records are “ Deep in Kentucky “ which also features Bobby Womack on guitar , and “ Why done we go somewhere and love “. A minor country hit. Another I like “ It’s So easy “ ( which s very personal to me ).

Her style of music was christened "country-politan". People in the city were listening to country music but wanted a more contemporary sound. Easy on the twang. 3 hits in a row was no small feat.
@brianbeecher30842 жыл бұрын
That was around the same time as “These Boots are Made for Walking” which launched the so-called countrypolitan movement in music at the time, which included much of Glen Campbell’s catalog.
