My goodness! Really fascinating. I pray that this doesn’t end up like many important, historical buildings have here in Scotland in the past few years because of fire 😢😢

I worked at Seighford Hall in the 1970s when it was a hotel and later a disco. I loved working there and have lots of fond memories of the place. I'm very saddened to see the state of it now. 😢

Excellent video. You may also wish to note that during the late 1940s and prior to the building being used as a regional police driving school, Seighford Hall also served as the Staffordshire County Police Headquarters, long before its relocation to Weeping Cross, Baswich.

@TheRedHairedStokie Just rechecked myself. The County force leased Seighford Hall in January 1946, initially for the retraining of police officers returning from active war service. The Centre later became a general police training college before that too was relocated to Mill Meece in a former naval facility, whereupon it became a regional training facility. I think the police retained use of Seighford Hall for local recruitment alongside the Motor Training Centre which was set up in the late 1940's. The Motor Training Centre had relocated to Baswich House at Weeping Cross by the time my father undertook his advanced driver training in 1954. Apologies for any confusion.

Why successive governments don’t divert foreign aid to National Heritage I’ll never understand. A lot of that money ends up in the wrong people’s pockets anyway ! Interesting video. Many thanks.

I helped nurse the lady who owned the hall when it was a nursing home. I wasn't aware of its previous incantations.

It's because they are not an imperial power today, able to extract wealth from far flung colonies stolen from Indigenous peoples.

We will never see architectural beauty like this again! When I think how unattractive modern homes can be today it makes me realise something must be done!
