Man I loved Shareefa! I thought she had an amazing voice and was a rare female artist that was strong and powerful without being ultra sexual. She reminded me of Mary J Blige. I believe that even at that time the industry didn't want conscious music. Just goes to show you have to rap sing about sex drugs money etc to make it. The labels don't wanna promote uplifting music or artists. Same with Jazmine Sullivan but she's pushing through.

When her debut single dropped I really thought she was keyshia cole. Until they finally said her name on the radio. Then I was getting my love done and the beautician played her entire album and it was fire from start to finish. I didn’t expect her to have a short lived career.... I feel when you have these females on a rap label unless they have the eye of execs they don’t get very far.

To keep it real, DTP wasn't really a record label. It seem like was more of management company and liaison to facilitate business between Ludacris and Def Jam. What happened to Shareefa occurred all the time in that era. It's hard to be successful when you flagship artist takes up all the priority, marketing and budget.

Please do a what happened to r&b singer "Deemi" she had a hit called "soundtrack of my life". She was signed to Atlantic Records/Family Ties, Chris Styles was the one who discovered her. She was about come out with an album she was blowing up and then literally nothing happened and she literally disappeared. She doesn't have social media...just literally that hit song and nothing else, her album leaked years later but other than that nothing else. I just wanna know what happened to her because she really a touching story. And i just wanna know were she is now.

Her baby daddy had got murdered, she was a single mother of 2 children, she was in abusive relationship, plus she was on the brink of homelessness prior to getting her record deal. Sharissa actually had a solid 1st album. Even the unreleased tracks played in this video that was for the 2nd album sounds good. She just needed that extra PUSH because the quality music was definitely there!! I still have the CD version of the album.
