Sadly, I have to agree that the heyday of the SW Versus Series has definitely come and gone. Though I am committed to carrying the torch for as long as I can, my focus has become more retrospective and historical.

Yeah… I sorta dropped SW altogether. 😂 Still doing VS looks for Avatar (elemental benders, not blue people), but definitely not as a main, but a supplemental piece. With VS and the VS community it got waaaay to fixated on winners and not the journey or argumentation to discover the winner. I always went into those older videos looking at it from both sides, rather than coming in with a pre-determined winner. Funny you mention audiobooks a few times. That’s the main thing I get into these days. And I’m finally getting Matt to get into publishing for his own stuff (he wrote 2 shorts in my fantasy world). AND he says he’s flirting with the idea of voicing the audio himself.

The vs community is in shambles. They moved to discord. Too much emphasis on hyping up characters they like and lots of "This character barely has feats that means they automatically they would get stomped by the likes of Revan". It's ironic how the community would often insult vs creators on KZbin for their takes when their takes are far worse. Glad I left

Can't argue with the vs series running its course. It really was something fun and special and you definitely brought something special to its community. Rico and I are very good friends and I have him to thank the most for why I am where I am. I love versus alot. But I understand how it can drag on and be mentally straining. I have only watched over 2 mins so far so I might write another comment, but I want ya to know that your versus content like Rico’s will not be forgotten. Hey man, how you doing ? Yeah, a lot of people gradually bailed out of the SW versus community because they either got creative burnout or are plainly disgusted by the direction the franchise has taken under Disney. Still, I don't believe it's completely done for. There are still many characters that have never been explored, and there are still ways to revitalize it. Then again, I respect your choice.

I definitely don't want to say I'll never make them again, but it has already been many years and if I do make a vs video, it will likely be very different from the normal format. Then again I have a way of being sentimental with old projects, so it is definitely still a possibility.

Quite understandable. While I obviously can't speak much about the versus community here on YT, my experience on the forums has been similar in the sense that my interest in it has diminished somewhat over time. What should be, and remain, a silly nerdy hobby devolved into politicking between members of the community, dunking on rivals and pushing agendas relating to specific eras or characters. It became too distant from what should be an interest in the lore itself. While I don't think YT's case is so toxic and driven by different factors, I think what is shared is that people have sort of just burnt out their interest in it over time. This all said, I do still enjoy dabbling in versus stuff now and again, but it is mostly just sparring on more friendly forums and Discord or studying an individual characters power level more specifically rather than how it relates to others or how it can be used to beat 'X' other character. Keep up the good work as always! Excited for what you have in store on the channel in the future, whether SW related or not! 😁

One of the series you had that I thought awesome potential was the warhammer 40k space marine lore chapters on the lesser known chapters and I once suggested the Storm Wardens as I believe they are very underrated

While I did enjoy the vs series what got me to subscribe was the race lore videos, not many people seem to be doing it at all anymore either. Regardless do what your passionate about and the people who are here for you will keep watching. 👍

The footage you are seeing from years ago was made using Windows Movie Maker. I use Hitfilm Express now, which is what I would recommend

Honestly the Kenobi show was the last straw for me. That show was just bad. I will forever be greatful for the original 6 movies+ the EU but ngl Disney are making it rather difficult for me to keep supporting this franchise

Disney is the reason. That, and many of them just went through a burnout of practically doing the same thing over and over. Evan and Jensaarai still make classic SW Versus matchups, same for Dimond360_, but outside of them, it's either a complete wasteland or a bunch of really uneducated people who use a different and much less interesting and refined format.

@@yrooxrksvi7142 I plan on possibly reviving the Versus Series myself, I'm planning a Versus video that being Luke Skywalker vs Asajj Ventress.

@the zman I'll be primarily be using Luke from ROTJ, and Ventress from Legends. In regards to Luke, I'll also throw in his feats from Shadows of the Empire, and other comics. I still need to get more of the Rebellion comics, and do further research but once that's done I'll be making the Versus vid proper.
