It's simple...Curry went from guarding Dellavedoa to guarding Kyrie. He went from guarding a backup PG to guarding one of the most skilled players of all-time. He went from saving energy on defense to having to stay in front of the greatest ball-handler of all-time. Anyone who played or understands basketball knows that tired legs from having to guard a great offensive player, especially for a shooter, has the biggest impact on how well someone plays on the offensive end.

1) Curry was barely on Lebron so of course Lebron barely scored on him 2) Curry was 1-12 with Lebron as his primary defender 3) The Cavs literally ran whoever offense on Curry... whoever offense is not run of " elite " defenders.. lmfao

It's amazing how in a matter of just one postseason and a few weeks of the offseason, Stephen Curry went from comparisons with Michael Jordan or better to the biggest choker probably in NBA history and the most overrated nba player in a long time, Kevin Durant went from the most beloved and heroic player in recent years to the least clutch and most hated and upsetting traitor probably in NBA history, LeBron went from the most hated NBA superstar who couldn't win without loads of help to possibly the most amazing finals performance possibly ever. We also lost Kobe, Timmy, and now we might lose KG all in one season.

He's had two finals appearances. In the first finals he played great. 26 pts, 6.3 assists and 5.2 rebounds on 44.3% shooting, and a 58.5 TS%. That's not quite as good as he was in the regular season and playoffs, but still a great finals performance by any reasonable definition. And now in his second of two finals he played poorly relative to the regular season and playoffs. Hardly terrible, as 22.6/4.9/3.7 on 58% TS are still all-star level numbers, just not the same as his regular season numbers.

@finewinedaily4997
@finewinedaily4997 8 жыл бұрын
Baller Baby He shot 40% from 3 and 40% from the field overall in the finals. He had a True Shooting % of 58%. 22.6/4.9/3.7 on 58% TS will make you an All-Star. Those numbers are also deflated because they are 7 games against one of the best teams in the NBA. Dwane Wade had 19/4.6/4.1 on 51% TS and was a starter. Al Horford and a few other also had stat lines worse than Curry's finals performance. And of course Kobe's stats were just laughable. Speaking of Kobe, he had one of the worst finals performances of all-time for a superstar in 2004 - far worse than Curry. 22.6 pts, 2.8 rebounds and 4.4 assists per game, all while playing 46 minutes per game (11 more than Curry due to the blowouts). He also shot 38% from the field and 17% from 3. 17%! He had a TS% of 45%. Players sometimes under-perform. It happens. Here's what's happened the last 2 years for Curry: 2014-15 Regular Season: Amazing 2015 Playoffs: Amazing 2015 Finals: Very good 2015-16 Regular Season: Ridiculous 2016 Playoffs: Great despite 2 injuries 2016 Finals: Good (bad by Curry's standards) And your whole narrative about Curry giving the franchise over to KD is pure fantasy and stupidity. Curry had nothing to do with KD moving. The decision was made by KD and the owners. Is Curry supposed to stop the owners from signing one of the best players in the league?

While Steph Curry's 3 point shooting ability is incredible, these finals proved there is a limit on how much a 6'3" skinny dude with average NBA level athleticism can dominate a professional basketball game. I don't personally believe Curry choked, or that he couldn't handle playing well in the finals. He just can't physically dominate the way that Lebron can. Jump shooters can have the illusion of being the best player in the league or at their position during the regular season but when the playoffs start and the defense gets better, they tend to struggle more than a guy like Lebron or Kobe or other stars who have more well rounded games.

Messi choked on that penalty. He actually plays good in these finals for his National team, his teamates just let him down. He gets like quadruple teamed, then still manages to dribble out of it or leads his teamate with a great pass. He creates this space and his teamates fail to score. Messi ain't gonna score getting quadruple teamed in these finals, so his teamates definitely gotta step up. Tbh they're chokers if anything. Messi does his part. Btw, Messi has won numerous Champions League finals, Copa del rey, etc. Messi ain't no choker. Steph Curry on the other hand is an overrated choker. Nothing more.

Steph seems to be a Finals choker. There's really no other way to put it. I have no idea how much his injuries bothered his ability to shoot, dribble, defend, and create plays, but that is not an excuse for playing as poorly as he did the entire finals. I'm a Warriors fan but come on... two consecutive finals, and you play sub-par in both? That's inexcusable. Objectively, Curry seems to fair fine in the first 3 rounds. It's the 4th round that seems to get him. Not sure if he's out of gas or what, but both times (this year and last year), he's played terribly. Also props to Cleveland. They defended him pretty well and obviously got into his head at some point, since he was missing wide open looks.

The stage got too big for him, and he faced a physical defense that was new to him. When his shot started failing him, he made himself useless and harmful to his team, instead of driving and resorting to his playmaking ability. You could tell all the lebron blocks and trash talk got to him. He still has a long way to go before he becomes the face of the nba.

Last year curry didn't get injured in the playoffs, bogut didn't get injured and draymond didn't get suspended. And don't give that curry was injured shit, you just don't injure your knee, miss a month and come back healthy af. Nope, he played like a shadow of his former self through out the rest of the playoffs when he came back, he only had spurts of greatness, he didn't play great all game like he did all season until the knee injury, he either had 1 good quarter or a good couple of minutes. His stats took a dramatic fall, that doesn't happen by coincidence. The cavs got lucky, with injuries and begged for draymond to be suspended.

I don't know why Warriors fans have to keep making stupid excuses like Curry being "injured", or Draymond Greene getting himself suspended for liking balls. They just didn't show up and they got punished for it, why do you have to make excuses for them when he admits himself he was fine. Your inability to show any respect to the Cavs for winning shows your lack of knowledge about the game (because most warriors fans just started watching basketball last year).

Would anybody be giving Curry the injury pamper treatment if it was Lebron? Nope. The first thing you guys would say, "choke, now hes 2-5" He was up 3-1 and had the tools to get it done. He scored 38 points in game 4, and scored 40 in portland. Tired of the hurt narrative. Also, he never went to get clean up surgery that people suspected on his knee. Its almost like when D Rose got hurt, he was healthy the next season, but D Rose was underwhelming because he lost faith in his body because he was afraid he would get hurt again. Its not like Curry wasnt healthy, he just looked unsure of himself. But alot of things like bad passes, poor shot selection, and silly fouls cost possessions. He was MENTALLY healthy right?? So there should be no excuses. If you arent confident that you will benefit your team and dont feel like you can contribute, dont play. Simple.

+BBALLBREAKDOWN So we still don't know what exactly happened and why he played off the ball much more when in 2015 it wasn't like that. In your other video, you did mention that GSW does benefit a lot from curry playing off ball. I'm just curious how such a dominating MVP can suddenly disappear. There's no real acknowledgment of injury either. His movements definitely looked slow. Injury aside, he still make very sloppy plays, passes and TO.
@OfficialSwishaTV
@OfficialSwishaTV 7 жыл бұрын
no we do know what happened. it's what happened all year. Kerr chose to use draymond as the point forward and have steph/klay come off of screens. The entire reason for doing this is it allows more movement from your wings. Unlike when Steph is the primary ball-handler. Everyone stands around and watches as he runs PnR with Draymond/hoists up a shot early in the clock and the offense has less movement. You dont need advanced analytics to tell you this. watch the games.

Did you even watch the Finals? Lebron was clearly the MVP. He led his team back from a 3-1 deficit, had a back to back 41 point game, and clearly dominated the finals. Draymond didn't even play a game. So he will never get mvp regardless. He may be tough but not an MVP option. Many people who don't know basketball say Kyrie should be MVP. Kyrie was great and hit a key shot, but not the MVP. Give props to Lebron and respect his pure greatness.

Did you even read my comment or you just like to see your own words on the screen? I said NOWHERE in my comment that Lebron didn't deserve to be the MVP. He clearly was (I thought this was assumed in my comment). I said that cases could be made for Kyrie or Draymond being MVP over the 2 time, first ever unanimous MVP who, outside of maybe 2 games, was a no show for the NBA Finals. He did the same thing last year even when the Cavs were down 2 of their Big 3

Honestly, I don't think Curry was exactly injured, but it is clear something was not right and he never was able to get a rhythm. I found it frustrating the amount of times he would ball watch while Klay or Barnes went into some mid range jumper ISO play. Also, to all the people bashing Curry and singing the highest praise of Lebron, lets not forget, Lebron's first two finals were disastrous. Curry is still young enough, and with this new team will have at least 5 more years of great play to prove himself on the biggest stage. Lets just keep everything in perspective, folks.

@rylandwells403
@rylandwells403 8 жыл бұрын
I'm a huge Steph fan. But I can also take a step back and look at the fact that he DID underperform and he did NOT show up in the way he was needed in game 7. He had some really good games this series, but the fact of the matter was: yeah he was injured. He didn't look the same for sure (first take didn't let you forget that lol), however, he chose to return and be of help to his team. And he showed enough flashes of his MVP brilliance to lead you to believe that he was playing through it. What I believe was that Curry was more mentally attacked than anything. LeBron and Kyrie got into his head FAR more than Russell or KD ever did. You can just tell..his actions changed. He didn't shoot with confidence. Constantly worried about LeBron's defense and Kyrie's offense. Add on to the fact that he had to play some extremely tough and aggressive defense as well. Steph's low averages don't bother me that much.
@rylandwells403
@rylandwells403 8 жыл бұрын
The things that really bothered me weren't his low averages, but rather his lack of aggression and anger, his lack of desire to do anything in the midrange (curry has a great midrange game, stepbacks, floaters, you name it), and lack of good decision making (really sloppy passes and not staying completely focused on defense). It's like the pressure for him to be the hero was so much that he actually could feel it on his shoulders (cause let's face it, I always felt like curry just plays ball, he's not trying to be something he ain't, he's not trying to be the golden child or the hero of the league). He'll be fine tho, all the greats have a bad finals series here or there. They'll be fine, especially now that they have another RELIABLE scorer in Durant. That pressure will be off curry, and he'll be able to play like he normally does: ESPECIALLY come playoff time

Last years finals had a different roster for the Cavs, Kyrie & Love were out. I am curious what changes that Coach Kerr made to have the Warriors a better (BEST) season in NBA history but needing 7 games to beat OKC & nearly beat the Cavs?
@davidsefuiva1541
@davidsefuiva1541 7 жыл бұрын
It was more so changes on the other side, playoff basketball is more physical and this allowed teams to be more physical when Warriors move offball on their offense making it less effective as a result. OKC were also the worst matchup in the league for Golden State because of their length and athleticism. That 7 game series with OKC gassed out the Warriors and they couldn't rely on Klay and Curry in the finals.

Regardless how you feel about Steph playing defense or being injured. This series showed how important Kyrie is. Last year, Steph was guarding Dellevadova and Shumpert who aren't offensive threats so he didn't have to exert effort on the defensive end. If you make him play defense you can atleast wear him down. Seriously tho, he need to stop with this ridiculous behind the back passes tho. He is getting a little too cute with passes and players are ready for them now. Very simple: Steph Curry choked. AGAIN. Don't believe me? Curry had more turnovers in this Finals series then he did assists. More TURNOVERS than ASSISTS in the Finals. Let that sink in.

A lot of uneducated fans here don't know how tough it is to return early coming off an injury. Less time to rest means the injury will still have its effects on Steph's body throughout the series. Be sensible, Steph wasn't healthy in these series and yes, he did say there's no excuse to what happened, but can you blame him? I'm sure he was playing through pain and still tried his best to contribute to his team. Even his minutes were down in these finals compared to last year's, giving us a clear hint that the staff knew his knees are still bothering him and wanted to rest him as much as they can to preserve his energy.

LOL making excuses. He said he wasn't hurt. He wasn't hurt, he chocked end of story.. Maybe it's because he actually had to play competition. Last year he had a backup pg, this year Kyrie, accept it.

Knicks 4 Life You certainly don't know what it feels like to play through an injury, do you? Of course he said he wasn't injured, if he said he was then you'll still say he's making up excuses for his lack of energy in the court. He's at a lose lose situation so why admit the injury in the first place?
@Eros3x0

So he says that theres no excuse but you guys still make excuses? You fans were screaming "Hes back" after his game in portland but when it comes to facing the Cavs and losing you wanna bring this up? Honestly the real uneducated fans are the ones who don't get how good of a player Lebron is. He shut Curry down, not just with his blocks but mentally too. Same goes for Kyrie. He was too much for Curry.

If you wanna find an excuse the best one is that they chased 73-9 instead of resting. Yall can use that.

Yo man he choked flat out, Kyrie gave him nightmares! He had one good game now this is a first time unanimous MVP we talking bout. He confirmed what we who know have been saying all along and that is he is reg without that trey shot he goes to the rack weak he doesn't jump. He got showed up and exposed. That something different in 2016 was great team defense. Yo man this was a nice video I thought you were gonna make excuses but it was objective and unbiased even down to the language and terms you used.

Yes he is I hate this good damn finals because everybody thinks that people cant habe Bad days. The Three by Kyrie Irving was really taff Curry got his Hand in his face. Everybody says that Lebron was so great ever thought about that the d by the Warriors wasnt that good (just Draymond). Curry is just flamed by everyone because people cant say to themselfs that he is the best Player in the League.

also in 2015, their wasn't anyone on the Cavs to defend him or Klay. Irvin was hurt, Love was hurt, and Shumpert was playing hurt with a torn muscle in his left shoulder so he was playing hurt with one arm. The Cavs mostly play Deli on him but we know Deli lack the skills but has the heart. So even though Curry won the championship that year, he still didn't play to his potential. He hasn't play well enough as mvp (especially an anonymous mvp) in the finals. Its the fact that the warriors are so deep as a team that really helped them ti win the first and make up for his mess ups or his lack of productivity. but in 2016, the Cavs had the help James needed to take advantage of Curry or warriors miscues.

Exactly. It was planned LeBron to get payback from last year. It's scripted. OKC was to peak of sending the Warriors home. Do u ppl really believe that 3-1 bullshit? Kevin Durant now went to the Warriors because it's all about their storyline to make money. All these stats and plays mean almost nothing. The NBA will rig it. It would've been OKC vs. Cavs to begin with.
@justink075

so it's rigged then is the ball rigged or what because the finals all came down to the last shot by Kyrie.

They made Curry play like shit on purpose. Why would he throw a behind the back pass out of bounds that was no where close for Klay Thompson to catch on the last possession. Go watch it yourself. And why would he hit the backboard on his last 3 when in the regular season, he would know it down? I would expect him to at least hit rim. NBA is rigged. Not even a warriors or Cavs fan.

+Simon Henry stfu about rigged, you obviously not a basketball player, you acting like a female who doesn't know basketball. Basketball players are peopl also, not machines that make every shot or make the right decision like you may want to think based on what the warriors did in regular season. Regular season success doesnt mean automatic championship, gotta work hard for it. Cavs had it easy going into the finals, warriors struggled and played wayy more games to get to the finals....they were gassed after that thunder series you could tell. Doesnt excuse their play, cavs came back but thats why winning the ring is so hard and it requires a little bit of luck.

curry is the GOAT. better than LeBron kobe and even Michael. He's also the best defender of all time and was clearly robbed by kawhi leonard. fucking bullshit. Also, we only lost cause bogut was out AND lebitch had Green suspended in game 5. Warriors will beat cavs in 5 next season. curry will average 33 points in the finals and kevin will average 25. Next year is our year. Might as well give us that ring already. #DUBNATION #GODCURRY #LEBITCHJAMES

This video is well done and shows how Steve Kerr and Steph Curry could not step up when it mattered. We have a two year sample of curry's NBA finals appearances that show he wears down physically as the play offs go along due to his small stature. He was not serious injured. Every player had pain by the time the NBA finals comes around. He just is not the same player by the time the finals come around because of the physical play and his own physical limitations.
