We just saw him play for us at The Jackson County Fairgrounds in Michigan Aug 11th. The weather was questionable that night and we thought it might be cancled. Well.. the thunderstorms pushed aside to allow them to take the stage early. Steve Miller was my first concert I ever went to in Ann Arbor Michigan back in the early 80's,, and that was an incredible show! At 60 I have been a Steve Miller fan since! I swear I wore the grooves off The Book of Dreams LP. It was SO cool to see him jam the other night. It was a GREAT show! What a cool guy with such an incredible history behing him! Thanks for coming here Steve. ✌

Hey River Docs! I was 15 when the Joker came out. I’d bought the LP and taken it to a girls house,(Valerie) for “first listening” as her parents were away for the evening. Her folks came home early, and I left via her bedroom window, as her dad was the Police chief in my little Canadian home town! And that’s why I’ll never forget listening to that record for the first time! And, yes, The Joker is my fav, too! Peace

Steve Miller has been my 2nd favorite band (following Yes) forever. I've seen them (Yes or Jon Anderson) over 20 times each. My favorite Steve Miller song is Ciircle of Love. It is such a beautiful song and reminds of Yes's Turn of the Century. I am so greatful that Steve and Jon are still with us and still performing their music for us.

The Steve Miller Anthology album is one of my favorites to this day. Saw him 4 years ago along with Marty Stuart and Kenny Vaughan . Of course he played the obligated hits like Joker, Fly like an Eagle, Jet Airliner. But when he played some blues songs, you could tell thats were his heart was. He absolutely ripped on that guitar and played some of the most beautiful licks I've ever heard. Steve is a legend

I am SO disappointed in The Rock-N-Roll Hall Of Shame, that I cannot put into words how? I've always been a HUGE Steve Miller Band fan. Always have had the most respect for the man himself! Seen him twice, BOTH times were AWESOME! Great video, I'm now completely up to date with all of your videos! Seen them all, like your prospective on things. Like the fact that you go into great depth, but don't get "long-winded" & boring!!! Your videos are long enough, straight to the point, and I REALLY appreciate that you don't hold back! I am a long time fan of Steve Miller Band. I had the Book of Dreams album bought for me on my 9th birthday in 1978 by my older brother. I played it a lot and still enjoy listening to it. I have compact disc copies of BOD and Fly Like An Eagle these days. Book of Dreams is my top favorite album by Steve. I wish I could find out how Steve played the solos in Swingtown. It sounds like a combination of guitar and synthesizer back and forth. Very cool sound! Even the solo in Abracadabra sounds cool too! I wish there could be a documentary on Book of Dreams alone when Steve himself would explain all the sources of sounds he used through his guitars and the history of each of all the songs on the album. I would thoroughly enjoy watching that.

I remember in late summer of 1976 when "Fly Like an Eagle" would be played at least 2 times an hour on the local radio station. Then in the early summer of 1982, "Abracadabra" was being played on the radio, MTV and TBS' Night Tracks throughout the summer. Geez those were good times.

Wow RD! My wife was looking for some new Blues records to listen to a few days ago. I told her to try out Peter Green/Fleetwood Mac and maybe Steve Miller, that should send her down the rabbit hole! She has latched on to Miller's Your Cash Ain't Nothin but Trash. It's been the first tune she puts on when she wakes up in the morning the last 3 days running! I think you forgot he had a HUGE resurgence in the mid 90’s. Around the time of the wide river album. He was the man when I was in high school and his concerts were at big amphitheaters. I’d bet he sold most of those greatest hits albums at this time. I didn’t know anyone without it.

A fine guitar picker, Steve's vocals were always a little flat, and he'd never win any literacy awards for his lyrics, either. A bit of a plagiarist, but at least he admits it. After The Joker he continued to get even sillier, which is when I lost interest. Like his earlier stuff, though. Kudos for speaking out on the HOF (which is a farce).
