This is possibly the best collective top 5 draft in terms of overall games played, premierships won and individual achievements. Xavier Ellis probably the only half question mark but still a premiership player, over 100 games and generally regarded as a good player.

Unlike other famous draftee lists, this list actually has all decent to excellent choices before Pendlebury (clearly not as good but still good choices). Unlike the next draft in 2006, where Hawthorn drafted Mitchell Thorp at 6 and Bombers Scott Gumbleton at 2 before Joel Selwood. The collective cries of "who the fuck is that?" will underline the missed potential there.

Kennedy did not want to come to us... he was basically forced thru a trade for judd. He decided that if carlton didnt want him he would go. He came to love our team! Ellis also came back, he wanted to but.

I understand Carlton as i think they were AFL assisted due to constantly finishing bottom 4. Collingwood is questionable. Played in 2 GFs and AFL gave them an extra pick for finishing bottom 4 once.. Mcguire had his hands in it i believe.

Well... the only reason why Collingwood had picks 3 and 5 was because of the priority pick system where teams would tank to ensure they didn't win 5 games if they were having a bad season to get extra picks at the pointy end of the draft. It wouldn't happen again today. Dare i say Hawthorn and Collingwood were great beneficiaries of that system delivering premierships with the top end talent. Murphy was eligible to go to brisbane as a Father son but was such a s0ft c0k and refused to head up to brisbane taking his chances in the draft .He is symptomatic of the mediocrity of that carlton era 2005-2021. No way would he have made it to 300 in a decent team
