The fact that Balme was never suspended for the hit on Southby or Waite in 73 (or McKay and Dickson in 72) nor has ever publically regretted his actions is disappointing. I think if a player ends up with broken cheek bone or whatever the offending player should be forced to sit out their sentence e.g 8 weeks or 50% longer than it takes the victem to recover so if the victem needs 12 weeks to get back into the game the offender should sit out 18 weeks

suspensions should as others have stated, include the amount of time the other player they injured is unable to play... This should also factor in if a player is injured in the same match they receive a suspension for... Barry Hall is a good example who was rubbed out for a similar time he was injured for anyway... suspensions should start from when they are medically fit to play... this determined by an independent and team doc
