Those who disliked them were the vocal minority. When I was a kid they weren't even a problem. They're like the jar jar binks or the bayverse. The kids that they were targeted for were just okay while the diehard fans cry online.

People thought they autobot twins were racist. Like they were characters made to make fun of black people. Mainly because skids was voiced by Tom Kenny who was white. Reno Wilson who is black and voiced mudflap said in response that he never thought that they would be taken that way and were never MEANT to be taken that way. That’s why no one wanted them back for the 3rd movie. I was super upset about it as a kid when DOTM came out since they were hilarious and still are 2 of my favorite autobots.

They died in tf3 but because of script change it wasn't showed, whenever Sentinel betrays the Autobots they were supposed to attack him and die so that bee and the humans could escape, now you don't have to watch the other parts.
