Ever since the release of Jurassic Park, the fate of Dennis Nedry's modified Barbasol can, has long been speculated. Even though we see it fall from his person and roll down a hill before being covered in mud,
many people have wondered if we would ever get to see it make a return in any sequel that Spielberg planned on making. Of course this never happened, and the can's storyline was pretty much discontinued as soon
Nedry had his run in, with one of Jurassic Park's Dilophosaurs. Due to the fact that the can is shown to being buried on a tropical island, we're left to assume that the embryos died rather quickly. Especially
since Nedry only had an 18 minute window, to catch up with the BioSyn agent at Nublar's docks. The can he'd tried to smuggle the dinosaurs out with only had enough cooling in it to keep the embryos viable for
36 hours, meaning that if the can couldn't make it off of the island within that alotted time frame....the heist would be a failure. Now, even though we never got a follow-up on the can's survival from Nublar in
movie form....we actually did get a continuation of the first movie, that revolves around the canisters whereabouts entirely. The storyline of Jurassic Park: The Game begins midway through the events of the
original Jurassic Park, and features a hired Mercenary and a BioSyn Agent sneaking onto the island after Nedry fails to deliver the embryos to the East Dock. It was originally created to be a canon story that
would tie-in to not only the first film, but also The Lost World and Jurassic Park 3.

I think TellTale should redo this series to improve the graphics, controls and changing the ending to be canon. Although they might have to rehire the voice actors or get new one all together if they were to change the ending. Maybe they could do a accurate book based rendition. If they decided to reboot this, it would have to be some time because of Jurassic World Evolution coming out, so maybe when the third Jurassic World comes out. Or maybe scrap the whole thing and do a Jurassic World one, alternate storylines but same universe.

I remember when this game came out. It caught my attention because it was coming out at the same time Telletale was doing a game for Back To The Future, which is hands down, my favorite movie and franchise. What I appreciate about the game is that the events run parallel w the first movie, give or take several minor details. It could also work very well, if done correctly as a loose cannon film similarly to Rouge One for Star Wars. I actually almost finished the game up until the laptop I was playing the game on got a virus and I had to stop using it. I honestly don't remember where the shaving cream ended up, but it doesn't matter in the long run since I haven't actually finished the game. They keep strong to the source material, and utilize almost every dinosaur on the island whether attacking people or not.

Spielberg actually talked about the can, sadly I don't remember when or where... but it was some sort of interview. He mentions that the sequel was supposed to revolve around that missing can but then scratched the idea when Crichton wrote the second novel. Spielberg mentioned that there was a reason he showed the can falling in the Jurassic Park movie, other than to show it, if you know what I'm saying.

I love how she’s one of the indigenous people of Isla Nublar. It really makes you feel sad for her. It also begs the question of how they cleared the island to make way for the park. It erases the benevolence of just using an uninhabited island. It also shows how invasive a presence the park has. I also love that she had no idea what she was agreeing to. They didn’t inform her there’d be dinosaurs

This game is pretty good, but I still think they should have given Gerry a mustache, or at least have his daughter say that he looks different when he shaves, just as an excuse as to why he looks different from the actor in the movie. *edit:* 11:04 lol, exactly what I was asking myself, he should have the mustache, he is going to check on the Triceratops with the "hot shots paleontologists" on that scene, it screws the continuation a bit.

Ah the Telltale game... actually my favorite Jurassic Park game ever. It gave me a big Triceratops action scene, and a boat load more out of Dilophosaurus than 20 years of sequels have. Of course I love it to death! I count it as canon, given various dev comments that that was the intent- it seems some small details were retconned (such as the Visitor Center's damage), but then, The Lost World retconned certain details of Jurassic Park ("Those are the real miracle workers of Jurassic Park" versus "Isla Nublar was just a showroom for tourists, Isla Sorna was the factory floor", anyone? That's an irrefutable retcon), and we don't throw JP out of canon. Retcons happen, that's all. Still, glad to see you tackle the Telltale game! I really hope to see you unpack a lot of the easter eggs (like a Metriacanthosaurus skull seen at one point: blog.jessemaccabe.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/09/jessemaccabe_jp_fieldLabInterior2.jpg Compared to known dinosaur skulls, it's clearly an allosauroid of some sort, and seems quite similar to Sinraptor: upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/b/b1/Sinraptor_dongi.jpg/1200px-Sinraptor_dongi.jpg Which comes out as a very close relative of Metriacanthosaurus- both are metriacanthosaurine metriacanthosaurids after all) throughout the game. As for Gerry Harding's moustache- they weren't able to acquire any of the actors' likeness rights. It's why you don't see Dennis Nedry's face at any point of the game, not even on his ID badge. It was explained by the devs to be thought of as more of a recast than a retcon, per se. Which honestly, was fair. If you can't make the character look like the actor from the movie, there's not much you can do about that.

dillydilophosaur Except that the fight with Rexy at the end of episode 1 and the mosasaur are huge points in the game’s story, and the new info provided by JW retcons these plot points. During the fight at the end of episode 1 of this game Rexy completely destroys the visitor center’s front entrance, yet we see the old visitor center with its front entrance mostly intact in JW, implying that said fight never happened. According to a log entry on the backdoor program of the official Masrani Global Website, Dr. Wu didn’t figure out how to clone extinct marine creatures until the year 2000, that means their couldn’t have been a mosasaur in the original JP. Those are 2 major plot points that have been retconned. And about the whole “Site B contradicting the visitor center tour in JP” thing, it’s entirely possible that they only bred a few individual specimens on Nublar for the sake of showing the tourists.

And Jurassic Park ends with Hammond agreeing making a dinosaur theme park was a bad idea, The Lost World: Jurassic Park has Hammond's entire characterization being driven by contrition for wanting to make a dinosaur theme park and wanting to do right by the animals and prevent anyone else from ever repeating his mistakes... and Jurassic World has Hammond's dying wish being to make another dinosaur theme park and thus repeating his mistakes verbatim as *THE* major plot point that made the entire plot possible, a shocking 180 degree swerve in characterization that as of yet has not been addressed and frankly, probably won't be (there's a video idea for you!). There have been wildly major inconsistencies in the canon before. Incredibly major retcons we're still grappling with to this very day. Jurassic Park canon isn't a very neat thing, at all. Heck, on screen in the first film, we have 3-5 mutually exclusive maps that all disagree with each other for Isla Nublar, and Jurassic World adds another wildly inconsistent geography for the island. Not just the man made structures on it, but the very layout of the island itself in a geographical sense, with no explanation for how vast tracts of land could be added to an island and its coastline radically altered from every prior representation in a mere two and a half decades. This kind of thing has happened before, and will happen again. And no, my point wasn't about whether or not animals were bred on Isla Nublar at all, it's that Hammond stated that the people in that room were "the real miracle workers of Jurassic Park" - as in, the actual people doing the actual work that made the park possible. He later gives a speech about wanting to make a park that wasn't an illusion, "something you could see, and touch". The Lost World then veers off and reveals that the lab was just another flea circus. It's an inconsistency in characterization brought on by a retcon, and one that's always sort of bugged me. This kind of deception is more Novel!Hammond's thing than Film!Hammond's, but it was required for the plot, and Hammond's characterization suffered a bit. (PS- the fight with Rexy is a major plot point. The amount of damage that fight did, however, is not. As for the mosasaur, it's far less accurate than JW's, and JW itself makes a point that the less DNA one has, the less accurate an animal looks. We don't really have much information on JP:TG's Mosasaur, and it's entirely possible it was a genetic chimera). Retcons are a reality of any long-running fictional franchise. Generally, those retcons don't throw out the entire work, merely portions of it. TLW threw out the part where Hammond was telling the truth. Jurassic World threw out the part where Hammond realized that a dinosaur theme park was a mistake in every previous appearance. These things happen. Does Jurassic World suddenly make every previous film non canon? No. Apparently somehow Hammond changed his mind for unexplained reasons. Heck, the Masrani backdoor also indicates the Spinosaurus is a proto-Indominus style accidental hybrid, which retcons it as a real Spinosaurus and makes it more a spino-mimic. Or as real as any JP animal is, at any rate. And the Spino is as major a plot point as you get in JP3.

dillydilophosaur 1) We don’t know if what Simon Masrani said about Hammond in trusting him with his dying dream is 100% true, it could be that Masrani Global just bought out InGen and decided to build JW on their own. Besides, the story of this franchise is mainly driven by corporations doing shady things. 2) Island Geography isn’t really a major detail and it’s mostly unrelated to the plot. So, you’re pretty much just grasping at straws for that one.

I've never played this as the 3rd movie left a sour taste in my mouth. I always thought after watching the original movie in theaters when it came out, that this Barbasol Can would be integral to the next movie. I even thought of some ideas on how they could have done it. The Jurassic Game did a good job, but we were left with the Lost World and a lost opportunity to explore what would have happened. They could have done it different, I mean Friday the 13th picked up the next movie and it was set the very next day, Jurassic Park could have done this and wayyyyyy better!!!! But after a long time we got Jurassic World era and I couldn't be happier to see our favourite movie back in action.

I have not played the game but I have watched along on youtube and its not a too bad storyline plus clues to underwater reptiles and more types of dinos and more raptors which is always fun. Another great video. Continue :D

This game was surprisingly good. You can tell Telltale hadn't refined itself like how it had for The Walking Dead but it's still really well done. And even scary at parts.

Did not expect you to be playing through the telltale game, and it was a fun surprise, i hear a lot of bad things about this game but personally i like it, i find myself always coming back to it now and than to re-experience the story and the characters and see more of the creative approaches to dinos and sequences, the only other game i find myself replaying just to experience the story is Asura's Wrath.
