What happened to the capital of Montserrat? 🇲🇸

Montserrat is an overseas territory in the Caribbean. But did you know that they have a capital with a population of 0? I explain why the capital of Plymouth has no people living and what happened to it.

I went there after hurricane Hugo. Montserrat got hammered. Not nice . My team and I built 57 small homes. We were a volunteer team from Canada. Funded by the Salvation Army . Close to the end of that adventure I climbed and fell from that volcano. I’ll never forget the people of that enchanted emerald island of the Caribbean. My heart has never left,or any of our tools. I joined the emerald community singers and we sang in the square in Plymouth to celebrate Nelson Mandela. I’ll always view Montserrat as a little piece of heaven on earth. My goal is to return & recapture a glimpse of those enchanted days before I leave this planet.

Canadian here also, was always interested in doing something like this, how does it work/how did you get into it? like time frames and how do you pay your bills while you're away and such?

@@mybackup5206 The Salvation Army often puts together a team of volunteers to help people when need arises. Carpenters, electricians, plumbers, doctors, cooks technicians, all types apply. They pay your expenses and that’s it. However the work is very rewarding. And if meeting new people is something that interests you you’ll love it. We were always referred to as “Team Canada”. The US has similar programs. I’ve worked side by side with them in South America and a few other places. It’s called the “US Peace Core”. Not sure about the financial aspect there though. Good luck with your endeavour. I hope you make some great memories, I know I have.

*CORRECTION:* At the end of the short, I accidentally highlighted the northwestern part of Montserrat instead of north Montserrat itself. While editing, I thought I said north west, but I was wrong. Whoops.
