I've met quite the number of really good League players throughout the years, both male and female. Oh, and a good team works nicely when not all 5 members are support mains, btw.

Seriously man, chill out. The 'average man vs average woman' argument doesn't work when you're talking about one-in-a-million, tip-of-the-bell-curve exceptions to the norm, which is what people like Faker, Chovy, Showmaker and so on are. The primary reason there are no female players at that high of a level is that there just aren't that many highly dedicated female League players to begin with. Also, there's a stark difference between LCS competitive and LCK/LPL competitive too (to the point that most teams in NA have Asian players in them, but no successful teams in LCK/LPL import from NA) but that doesn't mean Asian people are genetically predisposed to being better at League.

I feel like there a tension here that makes it hard to make it as a female player. It's probably not an accident that a lot of these women are unusually beautiful; that's a trait that's great for marketing, especially to young men, and it's likely a large part of the reason they got so much attention. But the most beautiful players are not necessarily the most talented. I'd be curious to know if a league were formed of women who were just the best female players in the world regardless of appearance could do well.

We won't and it is never happening as it is based on natural reasons. Women, in general, are a lot less interested in competitive video games compared to men - this mostly comes from their biology and the same could be seen in traditional sports (that's why women football and basketball is basically laughable compared to the men). I could see it changing but it would require a gigantic culture shift and trying to encourage young girls to try as hard as they can to become good in a video game which, as it is proven, most girls are not interested in. It is not an underrepresentation issue and it will never be. That's how we as humans are and we should accept it and leave it as it is. There could be a successful individual cases in the future but man will still dominate the scene because they are simply better at competitive e-sports. We could potentially have an all-women local league but then do you think people would be able to assemble at least 10 teams of women ready to compete at this level? And do you think that people would actually watch that gameplay? I do not think so.

Yea boy's at age 10 go to each other's house to nerd out and play video games for untold hours. then one of them turns out to adapt and have the drive to be better than his 4 other friends. He becomes better then them and later moves on the play with even better people. Getting admiration from his friends he goes on to play even more untill he reaches a ceiling. then he either becomes a pro or simply plays for the casaul shits n giggles with his friends. Wow that was hard. i guess i can get about a million dollars now writing this article with my new surname sarkeesian. Nonono i guess its alot easier to just ignore the cultural impact of the young competitive space that boys have and just call evry man a toxic girl hating incel. I would say it's more about understanding that men are tossed into annything without any support and uplifting from anyone in 99% of life, and when you are used to that, being flamed in a compedative game just becomes backgrount noise you can tune out and focus on being better, since only women and dogs are loved unconditionaly, and a man is only loved with the condition that he provides something, and in gaming that is generaly skill or entertainment to the audiance of said game. Things where you have to eaither be at the top, or fail misserably, since gaming in it's primal form is pure meritocracy. Women on the other hand have grown up from the verry beginning being loved unconditionaly and given things without even puting in effort, so when they enter a meritocracy, to them it seems like bullying. Thies are the general treatments in western societies of the genders, men are worthless unless they are usefull, and women are held up even when usless. If you REALY want women in a meritocratic field, you need to make them adapt to meritocracy, or you will eaither kill the field due to it not being meritocratic annymore, or failing all the women you force into that field who cant adapt. All in all, men like meritocracy in general, due "fair play" that they learn while being challanged cooperating and competing from the get go, while women close to never get that mindset due to them being sheltered and already loved so meritocracy would be a downgrade over the sophistry they are used to

@@amampersanda you can have the most welcoming space ever, it wount actualy change the fact of how investment distribution between the sexes are unless you force women to grind more then they want to... men make up the top and bottom extremes of all distribution, and especialy in a compedative game, to reach the top takes way more investment, than what women have shown they are willing to do, so unless you force women to invest more than they want to, you wount get women in the top. You are deflecting personal choice with "sexism", and proving that if normal trash talk (wich is impossible to get rid of in any compedative game/sport due to human nature), you dont have the mental fortitude to reach high on your own. You can cry about "misogyny" if you want, but the fact is that most female gamers play into this. I started avoiding any lfg posts where the host is obviously a girl gamer because they always behave the same way. They flirt and talk about sex, play poorly because they seemingly aren't paying attention, and I've actually been kicked by multiple parties after it's mentioned that I have a girlfriend. I'm assuming they do this because they can get carried easier by thirsty kids, but honestly I don't know. Either way, after a couple dozen experiences like this, I just started avoiding them. If someone doesn't mention that they are a girl/doesn't have some thirst-pic as a gamer profile, I wouldn't care and I'd give them the same chance I give anyone else. But by the actions of the girls I've played with I've learned that if I want to have fun and have some good games, don't play with girls. They are too toxic.

Women are better at people(unless it's other women they feel threatened by) and feelings etc. Sure there are women that's more compeititve than your average man but they are not more driven or competitive than the most driven and competitive man. It's really simple, how many women/girls do you know(of) that grind and actually try to improve at a game, we talk 10 hours+ per day for years. Sure there are some streamers but in my experience they are more driven by social networking and their community than the game itself. There are always exceptions but they are very rare. Adding to that gaming is traditionally a male hobby. I don't see this as a sexism issue or whatever as some would have you believe, men simply enjoy, competitive, games more for whatever reason. Imma be honest, the best female gamers I know, not including myself bc I'm not really good at league, they don't want to be professionals because it's too much training time. Having to play everyday between 4h to 8h is too much for anyone that has a more social life style, and the girls that aren't sociable don't play games like League, because it's not a game that makes them feel welcomed by. To use left leaning terminology, they were _privileged_ over other competitors who were more deserving and people resented that. Also, do you have any idea how men treat other men in competitive e-sports? Sure they used gendered insults against the women, but that was only because they thought that's what would hurt the most. It will be very difficult for any female player to do well even if they have the skill, due to the fact that a lot of media outlets and the public will attribute the outcome to her being a girl, and not to her actual skill. It sucks that girls and women are going to have this uphill battle in eSports and gaming in general. Hopefully there will come a day where people don't care about your gender, and care more about what you do, but I doubt that will happen in the world at present.

When and If a woman ever has the skill to compete, there will be no "Uphill battle". Results don't lie, and no team worth a damn would argue against results. There will be jokes, sure, but being female isn't holding anyone back. There's just no one good enough to break that ceiling, probably because they don't invest 8-20 hours a day practicing, like some of the highest level male players, and I mean actual practice, doing drills, and scenarios, and maths, testing builds with numbers backing them. Not just playing ranked for 8 hours straight with zero focus on actual skill development. And men get equally ridiculed and harassed when they lack skill, just no one gives a shit when male gamers get insulted. No one bats an eye when a terrible male player gets called a no life loser, or to touch grass etc. Men get dunked on all the time online. Skill level in E-sports is blatantly and readily available for viewing. So if the player performs well, consistently, it can't be chalked up to sexism / sympathy. Unless the claim is that the other teams are intentionally throwing to make this single player look better, which I doubt, when money is involved for winning. Men outnumber women at least 10-1 already, so for every 1 pro male, there's probably 1,000 awful wood league males. So by basic statistical probability, of course theres going to be more male high level male players. Then factor in the above, that men are more likely to Precision focus on their goal (Even if they are terrible wood league players) and you're already seeing tougher competition. I went to College with HotshotGG and we all laughed at his dumbass when League came out, Guy dropped out of Engineering school to try to go pro on this game that was "Up and coming". Well, safe to say he got the last laugh, to our hubris. Thats the kind of laser focus I'm talking about. Even if it is often stupid (I still would not advise dropping out of Engineering school to try to get famous on a video game). I'd hit Challenger a few seasons in a row, but that was by investing literal 10-14 hours a day playing, whenever I wasn't at work, I was playing, and listening to other pro players, watching their game play, analyzing, going over my own replays, the works, and it was exhausting. And I never went pro, and I'm sure there are thousands of other players who are better than me, who have the same fate. TL:DR Nothing is holding women back in e-sports except their willingness to fully commit, and legitimately train/practice. It's not enough to just want something, you need to put in legitimate, hard work - which may NEVER pay off. Male or female.

@@sofiabruiz17 And do you watch how other streamers get stream sniped and Swatted? Happens to both genders. Just because we ignore it when it happens to men doesnt mean it doesnt happen. Hell Ive seen male streamers have people break into their house while they are streaming. Having literally hunted them down to streamsnipe irl. Show me a female streamer that can compete with top level players. Chances are they cant. Being "high level" isn't enough. You need to be Elite. Like I said, I hit challenger and that wasnt enough, but a team of diamond level players were expected to compete? Your claim that it "happens to women more" is completely unverified. You would have to be tracking literally all streamers to make that assessment with out bias. The difference is when it happens to a woman, people acknowledge it more and treat them with kid gloves. When it happens to a dude, nobody cares at all, unless hes super famous. Ive seen streamers playing single player games get stream sniped and hacked. The reality is, is that women are just generally more sensible than men and not going to take the same risks. Such as commiting 14 hours a day to a video game for a chance to go pro. Theres thousands more men who have tried, and failed, than there are women who even attempt it. So of course there are more succesful men. When and if a woman has the skill level, it will be recognised. That doesnt mean they wont get hate. Even the top male players get hate mail and trolled. As do most famous people, whether they be olympic athletes or rockstars. Such is the nature of jealousy. It also doesnt help that men have better reflexes on average. Which gives them an edge. Especially when precision focused. Women see colour better, but thats not really a tangible benefit in a MoBA. Nor is being more empathetic. For every successful male streamer / esport player. Theres probably 100,000 failed Male players. In comparison to the maybe 1000 failed female streamers / esports players. And this is not me shitting on women. As I said they are just more sensible and not remotely as likely to go balls to the wall hardcore on something. Which yes, does affect those who try to become pro because they arent 100% committed. Where as a man will be drowning, diving headfirst into a 2 foot pool chasing the dream of being a pro even though he may never leave wood league. Which is why too much determination / laser focus is not a good thing unless you have the talent to back it up. The irony is you say Im biased, but Im saying that women can compete, and it wont be an issue. IF they have the skill to compete. Men also need the skills and if they dont have them. Guess what. They dont deserve the spot either. But again. No one cares about how many men failed. They only see the 20-40 successful ones. Ignoring the literal millions of others who never made it. Where as you and buddy are basically saying "itll never happen. Society hates women. Dont bother". Female gamers absolutely can compete. They just need to be as dedicated as the COMPETITION. Which happens to be predominantly male, simply because men are more stubborn and competitive. For better or worse. Like really. League is what. 90% played by men. And there are what. 50-100 pro players. Now subtract that from LOLs daily player count, and look at how many men ALSO are not skilled enough to be at the top. Its not remotely easy to be elite level at anything. Especially when those who are elite play and practice more than any regular person feasibly can. They dedicate literally their entire lives to that one thing.

Which is a very similar Mantra Mike Tyson's boxing coach gave him when he was a 13 year old boy. The road to triumph is not easy. For anyone. Its filled with doubt, and hate, and people trying to keep you down. No matter what you do. If you see obstacles as road blocks that cant be beat. Youll never be anybody. Its about perseverance, dedication, and a willingness to fail over and over but keep improving. No matter what people say about you. And the truth is, even that isnt enough. For men or women. Less than 0.5% of all players, athletes, singers, musicians, etc will ever reach Superstardom, or mass success at an elite level. But people try (and fail) despite that. Doesnt matter if you think you can, or you cant. Your right. And if you make excuses or doubt yourself. Youve lost before you even started. If you want to be a boss bitch, then be a boss bitch. Roll with the punches and swing back harder. Dont make excuses and pretend someone else is holding you back. Quit holding yourself back. Edit: There are literally people im severe accidents who are semi-fully paralyzed who are told by Elite doctors and surgeons and specialists "youll never walk again" And yet those people still drag themselves on the floor. Little by little. Refusing to give up. And to everyones surprise. They walk and move again. But you think some mean opinions online is the real thing holding women back.

Please don't brand fun comments as hate. If you hate someone, you're going to immortalise their name in humour and memes. People meme the heck out of SW prequels, because they love it. No one memes about the sequels, because the fandom actually hate them. That, or you can't make fun of girls, only the boys, which I'd argue is discriminating.

@InternalxHDanother reason, that 1 out of 1000 team which would be made of women, atleast 4 out of 5 members in that team would blame their inevitable failure on misogyny and cry on the internet to gather attention and in turn try to sue the organisation, destroying the whole fun in the process. Also there r all women leagues anyways so after filling that there wouldn't be any pro girls left to compete. U know that there aren't 1000 teams in a tournament, maximum 50 or so. So the probably of a girls team being qualified in a fair manner is very unlikely. Most likely for 'goodwill' the organisation will be forced to take some girl's teams , at the cost of boys, and that would not be liked by anyone who loves fair play. If u allow it naturally, the chance of a girl being there was always there from day 1, no one barred them , just the fact that they suck so they didn't get in there. apart from the fact that men play a lot more, in the competitive league, men r the only ones available as pros. Women who stream or r given chance to play in tournaments r much more likely to cheat as u can see , apart from the fact that they suck. Proving again that this isn't their place. By theory of probability a women's team can definitely get qualified on their own and win, but with the feminist media and society we live in, that would most likely never be the case. If a women's team get's to say top100 in the world and the tournament takes say 20 top teams, they won't get there by fair play, but unfortunately the organisation may simp and let them play anyway. Taking out a deserving men's team and the women's team would lose humiliatingly anyways. Completely naturally they would never get there becuz society is simp. Let's say if someone people stop simping and they get chance fairly, not a single boy would lose their mind. They would play them like anyone else and they will get an average result. Which is fine. Hopefully we get the 2nd and not first. And girls, if u love fair play, don't fucking complain, just get better and then play at the top level. It's common sense, a boy won't get anywhere by complaining for life if his gameplay sucks, consider urself such way and either get good at the game or leave, stop complaining about made up problems.

Are we really going to say out of all players in any game with a competitive scene even 0.01% of the top of the player base is female? I mean really? Reading the comments made me notice one thing... People really don't understand how competitiveness works I've seen girls who tried to be competitive not being wiling in change stuff to become better, i had pretty bad experiences trying to help them to improve. And if you don't embrace the changes because you "don't like it" cause "it looks bad" or "not really interested." you can't blame people in not take you seriously. This is how Faker made Galio, Irelia, Kai'sa and even Nunu to work on mid, he was trying his best and work in new stuff. Faker did one of his best split ever on LCK and again brought something "new", Kai'sa Mid (Aram meta FTW?). Be competitive is basically be a slave of meta or redefine it. You either accept it and work on it or you quit. Why Mayumi gone well? Simple, NAUTILUS. I had a friend that liked to play support and she never touched in champions like Alistar, Blitzcrank because of their looks, and when she used to play ad and me support, i always picked this kind of champion because they were useful. And no, you won't be good with Miss Fortune if you're only trying ot press E and R. She wasn't bad, she hitted Diamond III with 49,5% win rate, but at same time, i did the same with 56,8% Win rate (1/5 of Games in comparison) So, if you ever live in your comfort zone, you won't never, NEVER, be able to be competitive. This take a lot of time and work and you need to be willing to do it if want to be come at least competitive.

In many real life sports harrassement is always there even though ethics are well known and written .You play in a team if you go down they go down with you they will trash you and you realy deserve it. If you want to go pro proove yourself play good you can go solo/Duo climb ranks once you prove yourself no one will care what or who you are if your performance is good and the numbers dont lie.

take it from a woman: it is not because the low interest . women love games. but what we don't love is (censoring so YT doesnt get angry) people telling us to k*ll ourselves, getting r*pe threats, i had someone throw my game once just because I was a woman playing dps, and we were HARD WINNING. You saying to "cope" is not fair. You are trying to completely invalidate the experiences that many women have to go through by just saying that. There are no "ethics" in gaming because who do you think leads the charge when it comes to rules? oh yeah, men! THey don't care about how women feel 80% of the time. The level of hate women get is much different compared to men. men don't get these threats and don't get sexist jokes thrown at them. I say sexist because they don't get jokes about their natural bodily anatomy in a derogatory way ( you watched the video, you should know what im talking about.) Men also don't get stalked endlessly and have their info doxxed, or have entire incel channels dedicated to shitting on them for being men and telling them to KMS because they aren't in the kitchen or being a houseslave. If you cannot see this, you are completely blind to the plight of women in general. Read the above comments from one of the members and just see what the comments are ; its sexist, its hateful, and you don't get this level of treatment from male creators. Fucking hell, look at some of the creators who were outed for being pedophiles. People still support those men.....

in what culture do you live that women don't play video games as much as men LOL. I'm a woman who's been playing video games longer than most KZbin comment makers have been alive. We disguise ourselves with male names online so we don't get rape jokes & dick pics. And what do YOU know what getting good? There are women in athletic sports who know way more about "getting good" than sweaty incel male gamers sitting in their gaming chairs eating french fries. Gaming culture is toxic and disgusting, even on the male side. That shit don't fly in competitive athletics like Olympic-level sports.

@@vimmiv Men are literally harassed all the time online, what are you even talking about? Men are statistically more likely to get threatened online, doxxed, or otherwise harassed then women, like, do you even read the trash you write? The fact is if you want to be the best, you have to have thick skin, and as your comment (and all of human history) proves, women don't. I'd tell you to get good, but you'd think that's harassment and it would 'discourage' you from going pro or some nonsense. I am absolutely going to tell you to cope, because that's what the best do, they cope with the threats and move on. If you think dudes like Faker haven't received literally thousands of death threats then you're delusional.

@@novaangle2183 "See the guys on your level being treated like gods." See, this is how I know you're a woman, because if you were a man you'd realize that men get treated like absolute crap. The difference is men have thick skin and know how to roll with the punches, while women, instead of just getting better, stomp their feet and complain that the world won't bow down to them. Here's a tip toots, you are ANONYMOUS while playing a game until you decide otherwise. If people are being mean to you, it's not because you're a woman, it's because everyone is mean online and/or you're bad and should git gud.
