I remember when that cop got killed outside the Ibex and they shut it down for good in 97, what's crazy another popular spot the Sugar Kane Palace which was on Riggs road not too far from the Ibex got closed down a month before the Ibex when a security guard got killed and Demi Doc of JYB got hit also, this was a rough time for gogo spots back then

The Ibex was my place in the the early 80s! I had a couple birthday parties there. My girls and I also partied there on Thursdays, which was Ladies' Night...and the only time we could wear jeans. We had a ball but stopped going by 1985. I love local area history; so, I truly enjoy your videos! Very interesting and thorough. Please keep doing what you do! Peace and blessings...✌🏽

I remember the Ibex, and I can recall at length several of the concerns and controversies. Officer Brian Gibson was a schoolmate and friend. His mom used to prepare wonderful meals for the police, and had become an activist of sorts. RIP I kinda like the areas near Military Road and the beautiful homes surrounding Rock Creek Park. Those communities have seen a lot of changes, and many of those changes were an improvement! Love the content, Diki!

I was raised in Takoma DC on Blair Road. It was good ol days back then including Ibex club. I don't know if you knew a freight train derailed and shut down Blair Road and Underwood St. That was a crazy day. But I really enjoy your videos. Keep it up.

Ohhh my old stomping ground in the late 80s, early 90s😂. Was going in high school with a fake ID 🤦🏾‍♀️🤣 on Thursday's to see the strippers. Saturday's were lit 🔥💃🏾💃🏾💃🏾. I stopped going around 94, it did become too rowdy by then. Brightwood be careful what you wish for. Be happy your neighborhood hasn't been heavily gentrified like Petworth 🙄. With your proximity to the new Walter Reed project it may just push your property values up but also your property taxes.

I was only able to go to the Ibex twice before it closed. I couldn’t wait til I was old enough to get in. Then on my second time attending, someone pepper sprayed the club. I was on the balcony and couldn’t breathe and thought I wasn’t going to make it out. A few months later, a cop was shot and killed in his patrol car and I don’t think they ever opened up again after that. I did have a good time the few times I was able to go…

I lived in the Brightwood section for most of the 90's....I visited Ibex a couple of times and it was at that time the freakiest club I have ever attended, stop going there when I was almost shot there once.....then some months after that was when officer Gibson was murdered....I remember that i was living near the corner of New Hampshire and Georgia Avenue and seeing nearly 50 squad cars racing up Ga avenue running lights and sirens and I knew something serious was going down....only to find out the next day what happened....
