a squatter dream house, power and water. could not ask for more
@adamb8915 күн бұрын
This is actually what squatters laws were created for. If the property is completely abandoned, no one knows who owns it, or can contact them, etc. There's no one to talk to about buying it, and as-is it'll just sit vacant until it inevitably collapses. So squatter's laws present a way by which someone can obtain ownership of it by moving in and actually living there. Not just slapping down a sleeping bag, but like getting utilities hooked up, mowing the lawn, doing some landscaping, reroofing the place, new appliances, etc. LIVING there. Like, as if ti were your home. Duration depends on jurisdiction but around here if you maintain residence in a place like that for 10 straight years without challenge, you can obtain legal ownership of it.

By the 70s, plywood was being used. Thanks for the tour Ontario! 👍🤠 Note: 17:19 I know my way around plumbing and faucets, this is a real technical feat, purposely done and I don't know how or why. Perhaps too cheap to buy a shower faucet. It reminds me of the old television show "Green Acres". In some places, unhouses people will just squat in vacant buildings. In Canada, I have seen examples in both Halifax and Vancouver, though there are probably more. In the late-1970s, my Father purchased a long vacant and derelict building from the City as he wanted the land to expand his adjacent business premises. Despite the conditions, the abandoned building was occupied by multiple squatters who had to be evicted.
