I was 9 and my brother was 6. I made 2 pitchers of Kool-Aid and accidentally put the 2 different flavors in the same pitcher. I panicked because I knew Mom would be upset that I wasted 2 packets, so he gallantly chugged the entire pitcher of grape-orange Kool-Aid. And promptly threw up. That right there is why he's my favorite brother. 😂

I grew up on Kool Aid. It actually helped me quit sugary drinks because you can control how much sugar the drink has, and I slowly stepped it down. Kool Aid doesnt need sugar to be good, just pour it into some water!

Maybe the most health destructive element of my childhood. We made 'swamp water' which was lemon mixed with any other flavor. We also got a lot of merch, including a bunch of yellow canteens with the Kool-Aid man's face embossed on one side.

Around 1993/1994, Kool Aid Man was in a Domino's Pizza commercial with Donny Domino, the 90s hip Domino's Pizza mascot. I would love to see a video talking about Domino's Pizza's history, especially if Donny and Dottie get a mention. You're right about Guyana. It was the knock off Flavor-Aid! I loved the opening images because it made me stop and look up "D-Zerta" gelitan because I hadn't heard that since the 70s when it became a "diet" option! In the late 70s I remember saving used kool aid packets (or maybe just a seal you had to cut out from the package) When you saved a specified number of packets you could mail them in and receive either 4 kool aid cups or a kool aid man jug. We had both. There was probably some cash involved as well and back in the days it was mandatory 4 to 6 weeks for shipping....lol. Loved that set. Wish I still had it now.

We rarely had soft drinks when I was a kid in the 70s. We had Kool-Aid instead as it was much cheaper. My friends and I drank so much that I think our blood type was Kool-Aid during the summer. It's funny how much I loved it as a child but I haven't had any since circa 1980. I wonder if it tastes like nostalgia.
