The context is pretty important considering he is from india which is full of hindutva extremists and supports the terror state of israel, both currently oppressing Muslims to the extent of torture, imprisonment and death. Needless to say, we were laughing at the irony of his statement, and not laughing at wheelchair users in general. If he wants to say he stands with a genocidal, racist and ethnic cleansing entity, then he cannot be surprised at any criticism that comes with it including being the butt of a joke. Is it harsh? Perhaps. Is supporting genocide wrong and should be ridiculed? Definitely.
