I know but they were few and far between mainly supporting the Separatist fleet in orbit on Umbara. I want them to have their own fleet big enough to defend the planet by itself with multiple ship classes. Cruisers, frigates, carriers, fighters/bombers, etc. With their advanced tech they could/would have a badass & powerful fleet, not huge but very advanced and cutting edge.

According to the Thrawn book, the Umbarans were also considering insurgency, or at least could not contain all of the rebel thoughts in their society in reference to your video. That's when Codename: Nightswan appeared and did some thing, but after that confrontation Thrawn and the Imperial forces followed through by subjugating the planet. I'm not sure if this was a half theory half explanation video, but I felt that this should be at least noted (love your vids though)

For those not sure what he means by "Felucia 2.0" I would like to elaborate. Felucia was a hellhole of epic proportions. It was a swampy jungle planet that was home to acklays, the giant bug monster from episode 2. When the CIS fortified the planet, the republic sent in multiple legions of clones to retake it. Most legions werent prepared for the terrain they encountered and suffered immense casualties, but at the very least the clones knew what they were getting into when they found the droids. Umbara was 10x as bad. Not only were they fighting a enemy with superior weaponry, but think of the terrain. Umbara is dark, foggy, and the clones were fighting a unfamiliar foe on a planet that was seemingly out to get them. Plus the umbarans used guerrilla warfare instead of the conventional warfare of the droids. The closest thing we have like that here is Vietnam in the 60s.

I think it's important to remember that the Republic were invading Umbara. They are basically playing the role of Turkey in WWI; Siding with the wrong side (from an audience perspective) and getting invaded and punished because of it.

Notification Squad! HOOO! As for your question, I would make a throughout background check, of the guy while telling him I need to think about it, but remain polite. Afterwards, I check if there have been cultural changes among the Umbarans, and chalk up a treaty or pact to present the New Republic's Senate (If I have the authority, otherwise there wouldn't be much of a point in typing this). The treaty would bind them firmly to the New Republic, with violation (namely joining the enemy like they did in the Clone Wars) being punished with sanctions or even occupation. I would try to make them dependent of the New Republic, or at least indisposable to them. They would also need to open their technology to New Republic officials, so that the republican military and infrastructure can be improved. I would try my best to make sure that, if the New Republic falls, it's going to drag this scum with them into hell.

I have a feeling Japan was a huge inspiration for the star wars creators when they came up with the Umbarans. Think about it, in many aspects, Japan dominates several markets like the robotics, animation, motor transportation, and city planning& design and is technologically superior to many nations, yet at the exact same time they hold on very closely and dearly to their cultural norms and beliefs. Think back to world war 2 (or at least around that time). Who was the single most powerful (militarily and economically) country in all of east asia then? Japan, they even defeated Russia in a war (1905 russo-japanese war). And it took another strong super power (in this case the U.S) to defeat them. If we look at the Umbarans in the time of which they were still a huge threat to the republic (not even the 501st standing an obvious chance), the two super powers have all the similar comparisons.

I'd broker a treaty for annexation of Umbara only to keep them in check and impose heavy sanctions as they'd likely delve into trading with war-profiteers and the criminal underworld if they weren't re-inducted into the republic. I'd accept their offer with heavy sanctions imposed. They'd have relatively little power in the Senate, which given their general incompatibility in governance with the rest of the galaxy would probably suit them quite well. I'd explore trade options but exclude them from any major scientific or military agreements. The Umbarans represent both an opportunity and a threat. The question is how to maximize this opportunity while massively mitigating this threat.

the battle of Umbar to me is just the Vietnam war but if it was in star wars. I mean really In the TV series the Umbaraans fight like the Viet Cong mining the main road using guerrilla tactics and even setting traps at many points while the Republic uses a lot more frontal large scale assaults and heavy weapons.

Why don't any galactic factions use similar tactics to modern marines/ navy especially in WWII. Have a ship for orbital bombardment for a certain number of troops. For instance in the first clone wars episode on Umbarra when they call in bombers on the ridge when they were ambushed. Why not just have a Venator blow the hell out of them instead of using Y-wings
