Lots of people have been asking for an update about the $23,000 house. The kitchen's been fully renovated and the friend who bought it kindly allowed me to use it as a volunteer house. Here's a quick tour, and Volunteers 19 and 20, Wai Hon and Chee Wang from Singapore, have their say.

The work you did on the front garden transformed the area from overgrown to a peaceful and beautiful space. The kitchen cabinets are wonderful. Simple yet elegant. Thank you for sharing this follow up about the home.

Weeding of any kind is not fun, you guys! The rocks outside looks neat and tidy. You are such a hard worker and go getter. We need more people like you.

WOW! You all did a fabulous job. The house looks amazing! I can’t believe how wonderful the front area looks. I remember it was completely overgrown and unruly. Totally love it! 😊

My mother was from northern Japan and I have visited a number of times. My wife and I are considering moving to Japan when we retire and possibly getting an Akiya house. You did a fantastic job on this one.

I wonder what was the cost to renovate it? Did you get help there easily or was it all DIY? Overall, it came up good and the front part, exceptionally cleaned out. Congratulations indeed 👍👍

I saw your earlier video about this house, for $23,000 it was a steal. The place looks beautiful, even if you have to put in a little work to get it back to where it looks now. The inside looked so nice before, It didn't look like you have to do too much remodeling on the inside of the house.

It would be interesting to know how much the renovation cost in the end. But its anyway incredible to buy such a house for only 23k USD, here in Switzerland you might get a garage for that place or a parking lot in a parking house. Even in the town I live, with 10k citizens, the square meter costs around 1500-2000CHF.

This is insane and very cool! In germany if you buy a house for 23K you get a molded, old rundown building which you can pretty much just tear down (if you find one at all).

You guys did an amazing job on the house. Do you guys plan on getting a low platform bed? I would also put an island in the kitchen for cooking . Get some bar style chairs for it so you can use it to sit at and eat and entertain and then get a smaller dining table for the corner. Since the walls and windows soften the lights, I would get white light for the inside of some of the rooms to make it brighter.

Yes, it does look very good!!! But (constructive criticism here) the kitchen sounds like you are eating from the middle of a gymnasium. Hang some art work on the wall and that should make a great improvement!!!
