The X-Files did for sci-fi TV what Blade Runner did for the sci-fi cinema. It showed how much more impactful the darker and grittier sci-fi universes can sometimes be. The special guest stars like Burt Reynolds, Jodie Foster, Lucy Lawless and Haley Joel Osment were always particularly impressive.

When you become a multi-millionaire thanks to a successful TV series often, as an actor, you stop chasing after every role possible and you become more selective about the parts you want to play. Of course, there are those who keep making movies and TV shows no matter how bad those projects are, case in point... Kevin Hart.

She enjoys tv and as for tv roles she has had some high quality roles…this, Sex Education, The Crown, also Princess Mononoke and many films. I know it can seem this way from our side that she’s not in high profile blockbusters or more hits but from her perspective she’s been highly discriminant about her work and found a lot of quality roles; she has the wealth and the skill to do that and still maintain a private life. Well done her.

Brings back memories of Friday nights during my high school years. Classic '90's television! The writing, acting and production were all top-tier!! Brilliant series. It's funny that the characters of Ellen Ripley, Sarah Connor and Princess Leia Organa are always talked about as strong female characters (who actually were STRONG female characters and not caricatured Mary-Sues) but the character of Dana Scully is almost forgotten. None of them were perfect, they do not know it all and they had to overcome extreme obstacles -but there was always a fragile strength underneath that kept the characters grounded. Scully was played in this way to perfection. Anderson's portrayal of her is one of THE best in strong character development. Yes, credit is deserved to the writers of The X-Files -and somewhat to Chris Carter but Gillian Anderson deserves the lion's share due to her excellent performances during the show and in the movies. One of THE best shows of all time.

I even had family friends record the episodes on a blank cassette for me when they aired every Sunday. Once my family got cable, I watched it every time it was on . Some of the best episodes of Television ever were from the X files. Such a landmark and groundbreaking show.

If you ask any X-Files fan, they will likely say that the show may not be bringing new episodes to the screen, but that The X-Files is well and truly alive! 👽 I only discovered the show in 2010, but I can honestly say it saved my life. I told that to Chris Carter when I met him in L.A. (despite living in the UK!) I also met David 🧡 and Gillian. IMHO, The X-Files is the best TV series that I have seen. The stories, the acting, the scripts, the lighting - and particularly Mark Snow's atmospheric music - are all original and magical and these parts come together to form a unique whole. (Not to mention Gillian and David's chemistry which I have witnessed up close in real life.) A true cultural phenomenon. In my opinion, there will never be anything to equal this show. 💛💛💛💛💛💛💛

It seemed to bring everyone together, even haters. Everybody loved it and was ewed by what they saw :P I have seen some of my favorite episodes recently in HD and on wide screen TV, but it is just not the same as that grainy effect of small box-TV screen that seemed to add to the obscure and mystery back then. It revolutionized TV in the 90s. The monster of the week and the over arching story mixed in was perfect. I miss having 20+ episodes per season with an episodic narrative. TV shows now are only 10 episodes per season and its narrative is more like one long movie.

I finished a rewatch of the whole series last year. For a 30 year old show I have to say it holds up impressively well. I wasn't as keen on the more recent reboot. I'm hoping the new stuff that's being worked on by Ryan Coogler will take a clean break from Mulder and Scully and tell a fresh story as by the end the show got too bogged down in it's own mythology.

On the other hand, and this is my personal opinion as a fan of the series, the reasons why the xfiles died out were the following: One: the overarching plot of the syndicate and the colonization conspiracy was stretch out for way to long to the point that they had to keep adding things throughout the seasons to keep the intrigue going but this just made things more confusing. They should have ended the thing in the fifth or fourth season and create a new overarching story/plot. Two: no new overarching villian/opposite force for the X-files investigators after the destruction of syndicate. Without the "overarching conspiracy" the show lost its focus and it felt like they were just throwing anything at the story hoping something would stick. They could have replaced them with another group in the gov that also investigated the scifi/supernatural elements for the purpose of using the knowledge for the good of the military or something or have a new more private shadow organization, that maybe the greys had contact with behind the backs of the syndicate as a plan b, that combined the alien knowledge they got from the greys with the supernatural aspects of the show (demons, witchcraft and all that) for their own benefits and plans which could've been use a a link between the series and it's spinoff Millennium. Third: the constant scepticism of both Mulder and Scully on different topics. Why was Scully still a hardened sceptic after all the crap she's witness? She could've still be the one asking questions and going by the book and scientific method without dismissing the possibility of the unnatural after all she's seen. And why would Mulder, the open minded believer, just dismiss some of the supernatural things like angels while being open to others. He could've just put his own spin to it as theories, like saying that angels are just extra dimensional beings/aliens or something. Fourth: No Mulder in later seasons. Like seriously what the heck? Is one thing to have a few episodes without Scully or adding new characters to the xfiles like Doggett, wich I personally had no problem with, but having the xfiles without Mulder, who basically represents everything the show is about, is like having the series Buffy without Buffy.

One big problem with them bringing The X-Files back in 2016 was the fact aliens and government conspiracies were big back in the 90's. Whereas, by 2016, no one cares about aliens other than the Ancient Aliens that people view as crazy freaks. Though too bad the X-Files reboot was pretty bad as I was glad it had come back as The X-Files was one of my favorite 90's shows, but too bad it ended horribly back in it's original run, and was further run into the ground with the reboot mess.

I was a kid when X-Files was on. I was neither ready for the hour-long adult police procedural or the rare appearances of the bad guy of the week. I liked some episodes, but i wasnt rushing home to see it when there were friends and girls and adventures to be had. Years later i got to catch up on the show when sci-fi would show day-long blocks of different shows each day, which was awesome in itself. Anyways, the X-Files grew on me easily and some of the same studio people went on to make 'Supernatural' and others.
