do you not know that ALL predators starve to death when they get too old to hunt?
@keelahrose2 жыл бұрын
Did you actually listen to what he said? They hadn't come out there with a bunch of dead carcasses to feed a starving bear. They came upon the bear by happenstance. Where do you suggest they could have gotten food for it? He said himself, they'd've had to kill a seal or something. Do you usually travel with seal-slaughtering equipment in your pockets? Because most people don't.

Well rescuing a huge wild animal wasn't the mission. You'd need to immobilise him with a sedation dart for one thing. But I agree, I can't believe they couldn't have done something

This is so disturbing. These Polar bears are starving because they can't hunt because the ice is gone. Their land is melting right under them.
@OTTO149x6 жыл бұрын
+Doreatha Penn So, Doreatha, how did the polar bears survive all those centuries when there was no ice at all and it was a lot warmer than today? Why didn't the polar bears go extinct then, Doreatha? Hmmm? Could it be that you are out to lunch? What I'm saying is true and I haven't been bought off by Big Oil. Instead of calling me a "moron" or something, why don't you stop and think for a moment...?
@dp78876 жыл бұрын
Chris Jones I don't know Chris. All I know is if there's no ice, there'll be no seals. No seals means Polar Bears will starve to death. I suspect as more ice melts we'll be seeing more starving Polar Bears. Poor Babies....
@OTTO149x6 жыл бұрын
+Doreatha Penn Not good enough, Doreatha. You can't just ignore logic because it makes you uncomfortable. I repeat. How did the polar bears survive during periods of non-glaciation? Don't just give into your girlishness and start crying over the moribund bear. They're taking advantage of your nurturing female nature and your female aversion to logic... They're lying their little socialist heads off, Doreatha. Did you know that the same scientists were saying the exact same thing about "global cooling" right up until the weather changed and they switched to "global warming", then when the warming stopped, they switched to "climate change"? Did you know that, Doreatha? Stop being so gullible. "Climate change" is a mulit-trillion-dollar fraud perpetrated by criminals from the UN... P.S. Oh, and as a Canadian, I can assure you that there is plenty of ice up here and we won't be turning into Hawaii any time soon. They're bullshitting you, kid. They figure you have a nice modern 3-second attention span and they can lie to you with impunity because they don't have much respect for your intelligence. People used to be a lot smarter than they are now and never would have fallen for such obvious bullshit. Go watch an old game show and you will see just how much brighter the average person used to be. They used to know how to talk and think and everything...

Global Warming is not an issue to discuss today or tomorrow. Its a crisis that's growing larger by the minute as we sit & talk. Laws should be implemented by all countries that will change the future. Carbon emissions should be regulated & especially for china/Japan. Whether or not the Bear died due to global warming does not matter. The matter is that Global warming is and will always be a growing crisis till the world, not specific countries, deals with the issue. This will not only save such wildlife but also provide a cleaner and safer atmosphere for all.

Suzie Philips.....Everyone believes that the climate is changing. It's been warming since 1860, but individual polar bears have been starving in their thousands forever. What do you think happens to the healthy polar bears you normally see when they get towards the ends of their lives? They slow down, they can't find food, and they die much like this poor bear, but most documentaries spare us that unpleasant sight. According to the WWF, polar bear numbers have tripled since the 1950s and besides, they have survived 5 inter-glacial periods before in their history (where the Arctic melts entirely) Believe in climate change or not - footage of one starving polar bear means nothing other than propaganda.

This polar bear is old and dying. Cry for them if you will but they don't live forever. Notice that Paul Nicklen mentioned other FAT polar bears around the corner. In the early 1970's their population was around 1000 to 5000. Polar bears are listed as vulnerable to extinction, according to the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Red List, and there are around 36,000 individuals left in the wild. I've seen other estimates between 22,000 to over 50,000.

They are starving because humanity melted the sea ice. It is the responsibility of humanity to feed them.

It is confirmed that this Polar Bear was old and dying (spots on the nose tell the age of a polar bear). The area where this was filmed has actually a very stable number of polar bears for years now. So yes, maybe polar bears do suffer from climate change, but not this one.

Stop misleading people the photo was taken during the Summer and the other bears in the area are thriving. This could simply be an injury or illness. Polar bear scientists have also said the video is misleading. Look up the national post for more details
