Crossover cargo space figures are very very deceiving. The actual usable space is a lot closer together. For example, Camry has around 15 cu ft of trunk space, while RAV4 dwarfs it on paper with 38 cu ft. However, you can fit 5 standard 24 inch roller bags into Camry and only 6 into RAV4. So only 1 more bag advantage despite having a trunk that is on paper 250% bigger.

@angrysocialjusticewarrior3 жыл бұрын
Big vehicles are more confidence inspiring. Big vehicles give you a high driving position that allows you to be above most of traffic and make you feel secure. Big vehicle also give the impression that they are safer for family trips because they could get less dramatic impact forces during an accident. Big vehicles also tend to have bigger interior space. Big vehicles are also less stolen than sedans and hatchbacks. Big vehicles have bigger headlights and a higher headlight mount that gives impressive road illumination at night vs smaller cars. Big vehicles are more stable for towing a trailer. Big vehicles absorb potholes less harshly than smaller vehicles. Proper big vehicles like pickup trucks and large SUVs tend to use more heavy duty parts and thus are usually more reliable and more long-lived compared to smaller cars. Bigger cars have a slower and more predictable steering feel vs the more twitchy steering of smaller cars that might put off new drivers. and lastly, yes... offroading. You may not do any offroading per couple of years. But when you do ever find yourself in an offroading situation, having higher clearance will be a huge pluse. The clearance also helps in non offroading situations like flash-floods, driving over kerbs to get around an accident scene, loading the car with heavy luggage that sags the car down, etc

I have a 2020 SE Nightshade and it’s my first Toyota after owning several Honda’s. I actually like Honda interiors more, but at the time of purchase Honda dealers weren’t budging on price much vs Toyota. I figured for the additional savings I decided to go with a Camry and have no regrets. I enjoy the smooth ride, comfortable seats, standard safety features, apple car play/android auto and the killer gas mileage. I don’t care for blind spot monitoring as I feel it makes me a lazy driver by relying on electronics. I’m averaging 35 mpg combined city/hwy which is great for a midsize sedan, basically on par with the mileage of the smaller Corolla or even a Honda Fit. I can’t speak to reliability yet as I’ve only owned it for 6 months. My previous car, 2010 Accord ex 4cyl, was trouble free for 10 years so hopefully the legendary Toyota reliability still holds true.

@@Josh-179 one thing you need to understand from someone who has tried both key and push start button is that with the key there is a certain feeling to it which is difficult to explain which makes the best part about starting the vehicle whereas push start doesn't feel the same. Another point is that with key its safer from theft whereas with push start the chances of theft is quite high. I have friends who got their cars stolen especially with push start and recently by the time they found the vehicle it was already bound to be shipped overseas for lucrative markets, and this was due to software manipulation of the fob whereas with the key you cannot do that. The key is cheaper to replace unlike fob.

Well aside from the fact that most people are buying SUV’s now instead of sedans, I think a huge issue with Toyota that people don’t seem to speak on is how basic their vehicles look. It’s the main reason why I’m skeptical to get a Toyota right now because even though I want something reliable, I also want to feel happy when I look at the car, and I want to enjoy driving it, as I’m sure most people do. I think that Toyota got very comfortable with selling basic looking cars because for a long time, it was working for them and they catered to people that didn’t care about being flashy. People just wanted a reliable car without all the bells and whistles and Toyota offered that at the time. But because of that, they’ve gotten lazy over the years when it comes to design. All of the other car manufacturers like Honda, Kia, Hyundai, and Nissan literally blows Toyota out of the water when it comes to design, especially Honda being their biggest threat. I would absolutely choose a Honda over Toyota any day just based on looks alone. And cars in general are more reliable nowadays than they used to be, so people don’t have to necessarily settle for something basic like a Toyota. It seems that Toyota notices this and they have started putting out better designs like the current Rav4 model having a more aggressive look to it.

@andoletube3 жыл бұрын
@Kylan Rogers I know that, but I was saying if they got rid of the ignition key on all models, I'd pay extra to get it as an option! I find it stupid that car companies think that no key-ignition is a good thing. Every car I've driven without key ignition has annoyed me. There's no sensible place to put your keys! Sure, some cars have a slot to put in your Keyfob, but if you have a bunch of keys on your keyring, it doesn't work - or it scratches up your dash or rattles about The keys hanging down from the ignition is a great design and it always worked - you knew when you were just powering up your radio, or turning in on the ignition, or actually starting the car. The modern way is less systematic, every car is different, they are full on beeps, chimes and dings telling you that you're using the car wrong. Just keep it simple!

Thanks for another great video! Yes it's annoying that Toyota and other manufacturers keep using blind spot monitoring and rear cross traffic alert as bait to sell along with other options. When we got our 2019 SE the BSM/RCTA was about $600 and the convenience package was another $600. Sadly it was next to impossible to get BSM/RCTA except bundled with the convenience package and the ~$900 sunroof which I did not want. I tried at three dealerships with no luck so we didn't get any of the three. Which is ok - I'm extra careful using the mirrors and deal with the switchblade ignition key, heck it's a few less things to go wrong. I'm happy with the basic SE trim level, you get a lot for the $1200 upgrade over the LE trim level. And so far after 2.5 years no breakdowns, just normal maintenance - and that's what Toyota is all about! (Well I do need to the fuel pump replaced under the factory recall before it becomes a problem.)
