Danny and Wanda I really enjoyed watching this video tonight. It was like we were all setting in the living room after dinner shelling peas. 🥰

First of all, I want to say we love your videos. We watch them every day (if there is one lol) I don't ever comment because we watch it on the TV and there is no chat that I know of. I just wanted to come on my laptop to let you in on a little secret I figured out on the peas. I cleaned and blanched my purple hull peas, put them on the trays (2.5 pounds per tray) and then I freeze dried them...YES freeze dried! They turned out wonderful. I know y'all have a freeze dryer so I just wanted to let you in on that little tip. When I cook them, I just add however may I want to cook in the pot and add water just like I was going to cook a pot of fresh peas. When the water hits them, you hear a little hiss sound and immediately they turn green like they were just picked out of the garden! Delicious! I hope this helps! Keep doing what you are doing! We love y'all! PS: I hope you get better soon Danny!! We will be praying for you! ~Donna~

It's been a joy hanging out with you two on the couch tonight! Love the example you are setting Mr Danny! I love that when you look at something most of us see as a problem, you look at it as a challenge. Great advice! I'm impressed that you could tie your shoes with your thumb bandaged up. Take care and God bless!

Oh the trials & tribulations experienced, get well & heal quickly Danny. My husband lost his pinky finger working too. His 12 yr old nephew found his finger, gave it to his dad and he put it in milk and brought to the hospital but couldn't be reattached. Years later now the biggest complaint is holding screws, washers etc fall out of hand a lot. Caution without fear. Also, your shipping is lightening fast! The book arrived Monday it's a wonderful with so much helpful information, Thank You!

Wishing you a speedy healing. I remember when I would visit my family in Alabama in the summer as a kid. People would drop off peas, greens, okra all sorts of stuff to my Aunt. She had her NY niece shelling peas…let me tell you, that was some of the best eating once she would cook it all up! Peas and hot crackling bread, woowee.

Thanks for the lessons. I will show this to my husband so he doesn't repeat your injury. Rain in East Central Indiana has been few and far between. We are right on the Indiana-Ohio line. So fronts rain out before it gets here. 45 days with nothing according to my journal. Fall planting of English peas, bush beans and carrots didn't do very well. No rain has stunted the growth.

I wasn't sure about the weather either, but I am rolling the dice! I planted my sorghum and all my seed potatoes about 2 weeks ago. We will see if it comes to harvest before the first freeze! I am trenching and piping in a 20A circuit for a backup heater and piping in rainwater from the tanks to the greenhouse. I have been waiting for the weather to cool some to do all the digging! Hopefully the lessons I have learned over the past 2 winters will help me keep my plants alive this year. I was discouraged from planting last spring after losing so many. I was just about to go fire up the log splitter to finish processing the red oak trees that dried up and died. Now, I will be wearing some leather gloves for just in case! Thanks for the video yall. Hope your thumb heals up right with no permanent damage. 👍

Hi Danny and Miss Wanda, I saw you on Empty Hammock yesterday. KZbin is really fun when you go to a channel and you see somebody else you know from another site. Sorry about your thumb Danny. The worst part of an injury like that is how it slows you down and have to hold off of doing something.
@died4us5902 жыл бұрын
That white string was a nerve, ask me how i know. The nerve being cut may cause you less pain, but if it gets real dry, that hurts. One thing that makes wounds heal faster is silvadine. I had a third degree burn, and that stuff kept me from needing a skin graft. I am almost out of what i had left, because i use it on any kind of wound, had a big jar of it. That will take awhile to heal, unless they stitched it closed, and if it's open, don't let it get to dry, because that will hurt. You may have some feeling gone when it heals up, but only time will tell. G-d bless you Danny and Wanda.

Praying for you Danny. Hope your finger heals up quickly. As a single 68-year-old woman who no longer has a husband I have to chop wood on the same exact machine that you use and I find that you have to be really concentrating on what one is doing. I noticed the logs with knots in them do the same thing and snap back at you. Learned from a young southern man about safety before I started doing these things and took heed to his recommendations. I always wear gloves and leather is the best I was told. The wood would’ve most likely taken your glove instead of your finger. I also wear protective glasses even though I don’t like wearing them and they are annoying. I have also had plenty of injuries so I try to protect myself as best as I can. I have someone that comes to cut my trees down and he never wears gloves and I even gave him a free pair of leather gloves and said you need to protect yourself but I noticed he still does not wear them. Hopefully he won’t find out the hard way. 😩

I asked my Doc why I wasn’t feeling any pain when I lost mine. He said it’s called Traumatic Amputation. When the brain recognizes that so many nerves/nerve endings are all screaming at once it knows there’s a problem and blocks the input from them all. God doesn’t make junk. You know, he’s right.

I'm shelling some home grown black eye and lady cream peas, from my tiny garden efforts. It was pretty much worthless for everything else. :( Planted in June, I didn't get a single squash, zucc, watermelon, sweet potato. My 3 types of carrots were nothing more than tiny green shoots that didn't produce anything. My malabar spinach vine did pretty well though.
