Its amazing how quickly they grab your heart. I was against a pet until my husband heard about a little puppy that had been left on the side of the road and picked up by a good Samaritan, i reluctantly agreed to bring him home. That was 10 years ago, and he is my constant companion, so loving and protective with our daughter, the absolute best dog we could have ever asked for, i cant imagine life without him under my feet at my desk, or cuddled up beside us on movie night.

I’m dying Elle… so I watched your channel when my kids were younger.. and literally it helped me with so much… and then the day you posted about your new puppy… we had actually gotten a 2 month old labradoodle the day before! I also have a mini golden doodle. He’s about a 1 and a half years old and he grew so fast! He’s about 20 pounds (he was the runt of the litter) and he’s the cutest thing ever. They also never shed.

Rescue dogs often are not properly health and behavior tested, it’s impossible to track down the dogs family to pinpoint potential health issues, and you cannot guarantee that you’ll get the breed that is best fit for your family and home. The adopt don’t shop crowd really doesn’t seem to understand that the point of a dog is to fit into the family or provide a service. A rescue is a gamble, at best, and with small children around it is MUCH smarter not to make that gamble and instead go with something more likely to suit your needs. Rescues are bursting at the seams BECAUSE people make poor choices when selecting their dogs, and to return a dog after it has behavioral issues to the pound or to have to put them down after they’ve attacked one of the kids is far more damaging than simply doing your research and getting a dog from a reputable breeder.

@@AllieLovesPain oh wow it’s like you got EVERY misconception into one diatribe. 1) “health and behavior testing” is no guarantee of anything in fact mutts fair better across the board and 30% of shelters are purebred. 2) yes we can and do track down their family we get tons of purebred where we even find the breeder. And mixes where we know the parents. 3) dogs do not exist to provide a service that is exploitation at best. It’s also not your job to dictate to another species what the point of their life is in terms of your own objectives and then sentence them to death when they don’t fit into it. They are not products. 4)a rescue si far from a gamble 😂 the biggest gamble you can make is buying a puppy from a breeder 😂 5) rescues are not bursting because people bought the wrong dog for their family 😂 I have worked intake for DECADES please stop propagating misinformation this is completely incorrect 6) it’s also not because they have behavior issues the data exists on relinquishment stats you are flat out wrong here and buying a dog does nothing to prevent behavioral issues anyway 7) rescue dogs are not more likely to attack kids nor is that why they’re turned in. 8) there is no such thing as a “reputable breeder” breeding is fundamentally unethical and you can’t ethically do an unethical thing 8) after twenty years in clinical science and vetmed it’s sad as FUCK that people as ignorant as you exist in the world

put a bell on a string and attach it to the door where the backyard is, teach him to ring it when he wants to go bathroom, we did this when my husky was a baby and thats we potty trained him in a month, but every dog learns at different speeds. Hope this helps
