It's unreal how much I have to fish for rooms at 21k VR to not get in a room that is legit 10k and less. Why Nintendo thinks +8 VR for 1st vs. -140 VR, your house keys, two Virgin Souls, and a Krispy Kreme Donut for 9th is a fair deal for something I can't knowingly opt out of is wack. It's bittersweet to know we're all getting screwed.

To be fair, it's much easier to win in a 10k VR room. In most 10k rooms, I gain VR faster than higher rooms (but it depends, sometimes a japanese 10k room is too good for me)

I just hit 30k VR myself! I use to be a very very casual Mario Kart player hovering around 8-10k VR for the longest never trying to get better until I saw this very small channel called Shortcat. His content was nice and interesting and have been following for over a year now and I can say Shortcat inspire me to get good at this game and it's been all fun ever since. So Shoutout to Shortcat for the positive energy he always throws out into the world 💯

Good races! Shortcat is using the Scooty Kong combo! Yeah, VR is more how long you've been playing than actual skill. I did hit max VR this year and I don't know how much your VR actually influences what room you get placed in. It seems so random as there will be times I am in really low VR rooms and then the next room I join is much higher VR players.

In my experience, VR somewhat reflects skill until you pass 20k (in worldwides, not regional). Then it's a wasteland above that. I think that a 20k player can hit 99k given enough time, but a 19k player can still get stuck at 19k.

Nintendo may not want people to feel like they are stuck at a certain VR but it happens anyway. I legit know someone who played for a bit, was playing Daisy as their main, who complained constantly about how "overpowered" Yoshi is, and also complained about losing constantly to the "overpowered Yoshi's" and quit before they even reached 2000 VR... while playing basically the exact same combo as those Yoshi's because he would play Daisy > Mr.Scooty > Azur Rollers > Daisy Flower. This was during the pure Teddy Buggy dominance so he was at a slight disadvantage but not much of one, and was still using **A** meta combo. Meanwhile I think I pushed up to 7k-ish VR without much effort mostly playing randomly chosen sets, or using the same set as the Dry Bones Hot Wheels because my mother got it for me for Christmas and it just felt right to "main" that(Standard Kart, and Cyber Slicks with the Bowser Kite for flavour) and have been meaning to get back to the game, just not had the most time for Mario Kart lately. So despite Nintendo's efforts, people still get stuck and curse at the "meta sets" while not realizing that they themselves are playing a meta character. This persons reasoning as to why I must be wrong about Daisy having the same stats as Yoshi... he loses to much. Can't be he's just not very good and refuses to try to get better, naa. Yoshi is just overpowered.
