I want to go 49 tot 53 as fast as possible. I don't want to stay 49 for a year to be able to push through. How long would you advise people to linger at 49 before pushing on ahead?

that depends on your research, your ability to do missions for mats, your voyager, etc, etc, etc

It is nice to know how the game will change when I get to Ops50. I am not racing to get there, I need to get my ships and tech together first. Dumb question. Do special ships like the Franklin, Voyager, and Talos count as faction ships? Or are they not affected by faction research?

Faction ships are those you find in the rom kling fed faction stores
