I will work on trying to get investors for a Hobby shop -BUT you are a You tube celebrity and would be nice to have you and some of your technicians to put in there two cents worth of support ! I pray every day that we here in Michigan can have a nice slot car hobby shop ! It would be a good thing because there is not for the younger generation to do that has some rewards when you build a winning car ! ✌️keep up the good segments !

Most clubs here in the UK tend to be funded by the members. They find an old building or room in a building that is unlikely to be used for anything else and they all agree to pay a set amount of the rent every month even if they are not able to attend racing. The stronger and fitter ones then help to smarten up the building (often involves fixing the roof 😂) and build a track. The club shop is usually run by one of the members and receives a small discount from the distributors to help.

Can you do a video on how to rewind an armature?

Common problem with those proslot motors. The brushes are too tall and/or the comm diameter too small. This means that for a significant amount of rotation the arm produces a dead short. Motors run VERY hot. You need to notch the trailing edge of the brushes. Email me if you want to discuss further.

Thanks for watching and commenting Fabio. Performance is pushed to the limits on these motors. I have been filming “Tech Tip Extras” that I will be saving for possible channel memberships in the future where I go into more depth about chassis tuning and motor tuning. I understand what you mean about putting a notch in the trailing edge of the brush but this reduces the contact area and the current flow which has a negative impact on performance, so long as the motor actually works 😂. The com size was actually quite large 0.196” so that was not the problem 😉

this issues is very common in FK armatures ...small comm and large brush..specially if you use hi amout of spring tension....i recomend using hi density brush as koford bigfoot instead of proslot goldust wich is softer

@@ACCOUNTANTB , this is actually an old style proslot armature and I use Koford Bigfoot brushes or more recently, Red Fox brushes from Brazil 👍🏻.

i dont like any 29awg proslot ...i hate all of then...no matter if they are new or not.....those .540 G12 arms realy sucks.....i prefer any koford instead...any one...but only koford.....way better comm and the epoxi coat....everything is better on koford arms

What type of block do you us to tech chassis

What kind of block do you set your chassis on to tech
@CleaveTech

I use a granite surface block to built my chassis and straighten my chassis. I use an acrylic block with a slot milled into it to check my cars for tech.

Morning; good info, thanks for sharing; new to the channel and the hobby. What power supply are you using here ? A major issue here in North America is the cold weather and the lack of getting to a track weekly due to limited slot tracks now a days; how do you perseve the tires from drying out; no grip! I am assuming you have tackle that issue in the past ; so a link to a video is fine or any suggestions from anyone.

Thank you for watching and I am glad you have taken an interest in slot racing. There are so many types of slot racing, I like them all but only have time to do some of them 😉. Check out my video on preserving tyres here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/lXmydYBsnKp3aJo

@cleave tech Thanks for posting, what is difference in using rubbing alcohol vs the lighter fluid? Finally, I can never find an article or link explaining the different classes of 1/24 slot cars ? Like how would I know the diff between if I have a group 20 vs group 7, what make up the diff...assuming the motor ,but how would I know by looking at it? Thanks, Mike
@CleaveTech
@CleaveTech 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Mike. Thanks for watching and commenting. There is probably not much difference in the rubbing alcohol vs the lighter fluid. The lighter fluid comes in nice containers with a lid and a spout and is probably less aggressive to some plastics. Good question about 1/24 classes and motors. There are so many different classes of slot car and over the years the BSCRA have been able to standardise the classes raced in clubs all over the UK. There are similar governing bodies in other countries who also help to standardise rules but maybe I should do a video with some explanations?

man..i rate all proslot 29awg armature.....no joke...i stopped using all of them. they all crap. commutator is crap. Now here in Brazil we are using 70K TWP sealed motor.. its ana amzing solution....and theres Mid America new sealed engines too..check it out. all sealed. No one opens it.
@CleaveTech
@CleaveTech 2 жыл бұрын
I think sealed motors have their place but I personally prefer using “built” motors. I like to be in control of what I am racing and I have been let down by many sealed motors when they just do not finish the races. I understand they are great for club racing and for bringing beginners into the sport but I don’t like the lottery behind finding the best one.
@ACCOUNTANTB
@ACCOUNTANTB 2 жыл бұрын
man i can tell you - Im running TWP 70K and the diferences between 10 units (if you can purchase 10 units or more) its just irrelevant - less than 8%. Built you own motors is becoming a pain in the ass....theres a thousand of magnet models, armature...timing...gap....setup.....so.....and rebalance services are quite expensive... here in Brazil we are stop using buit your own motors.....or.....we are just using like FK sealed motor....
@CleaveTech
@CleaveTech 2 жыл бұрын
@@ACCOUNTANTB , Here in the UK I know of racers who will buy 50-100 sealed motors just to find a good one! For me, that is not the game I want to get into. I would prefer to buy 2 or 3 setups and a few armatures, build my motors, and have a few years worth of racing out of them. They are great for casual slot car racing, but when the racing gets serious, the money also gets more serious.
@ACCOUNTANTB
@ACCOUNTANTB 2 жыл бұрын
i like them sometimes. but we all depends by the knowledge of building crafts guys with rebalance machinery....So....for those who are just coming to slot car world by the first time it sucks.....and we are getting older !! - sometimes i got really tired building my motors !! ahahahahah - and the TWP 70K falled from sky to make me happy again ! - I just buy 3 and thats it...i think its 15 bucks / each only...and i can tell - no more than 8% between then.....
@ACCOUNTANTB
@ACCOUNTANTB 2 жыл бұрын
Its not about money ..its time and knowledge to make a really good built motor.....and the sortement of the motor components = mags, arms, arm timing selection, setups, endbel hardware...etc.......we are getting tired here man....hahahaha
