Fred's electric chair in Tennessee, as originally constructed, was determined to be incapable of delivering the amps and volts advertised. One of them subsequently reconfigured the chair and its wiring to get it to sustain the necessary the necessary lethal volts and amps.

@richardkallio3868 Жыл бұрын
@@andystitt3887 absolutely correct. According to Ohm's Law, V = IR meaning, Voltage is the product of amperage (current) times resistance. For a given voltage, therefore, a person whose body offers a greater resistance will have less current flow through him than someone with a lower resistance. That being said, however, at the voltages typically employed for an execution (jolts of anywhere from 1750 to 2400 V), the relatively minor variability in human resistance from one person to the next should make a very negligible difference in the amount of current delivered. As long as contacts are good, and saline is employed, the current should be well in excess of a lethal amount. Leuchter's modification of having the return path of the current divide between both ankles is a good one, in that it helps ensure current will flow evenly through the trunk.

Nobody has forgotten the victims, if they had there wouldn't even be an execution. The humanity of an execution is mandated by the Constitution, not our own thirst for blood and vengeance. The fact that the condemned "doesn't deserve" a humane death is irrelevant, society doesn't have the right to knowingly and purposely torture someone to death or humiliate them in the manner that Leuchter speaks of.
