What Happens If I Ignore My Toothache?

I ignored mine, just took some pain killers and it went away and hasn't come back for ages. I think the tooth has died LOL

I made that mistake completely went away on it's own I presumed all the nerves were dead . Then about a year later got a horrific infection that spread to the jawbone .

I just got a filling about 5 weeks ago and about 2 weeks ago it started hurting really bad and it is so sore now I can only eat soup or mashed potatoes. It didn't even hurt before I got the filling. The dentist said it could take up to 3 months before gets better. WTF It's excruciatingly painful.
