What Happens If You Cast Crucio Spell On Sebastian VS Ask Him To Cast it On You - Hogwarts Legacy

You have the choice to either learn Crucio Dark Magic Spell and use it on Sebastian or Let him casts it on you to open the door.
Your choice results in two different scenes were we see the reaction of each character when hit by Crucio spell. I have included
in this video both choices and outcomes. All raw footage used in this video including cutscenes and gameplay were recorded and edited

@@jaybird0312 Lorewise it's because you have to want to torture/control/kill the person you cast them on (and iirc it has to be solely because you want it, not for some greater cause). In other words, simply casting the spell is sufficient to prove you are guilty. Of course, lore varies on this, since sometimes people are casting unforgiveables left and right anyway.

@@jordanb722 that's simply not enough. The end result is the same. They're dead or tortured. My intentions have nothing to do with how effective the spell is when I cast bombardo or confringo or any spell that has the possibility to kill. I cast it, it works. So every time I cast bombardo at my enemy and I just say "Oh, I didn't mean to kill them with that spell" (which is literally a grenade spell) it's deemed "okay"? The ONLY explanation I can come up with that explains it is that the spells ONLY USE is to kill or cause pain. Intention has to do with the spell being effective while use has to do with what the caster chooses that spell for in the moment. Bombardo can be used for other things that dont involve a human. Avada and Crucio can only be used on a living thing. They have no effect on inanimates. (As far as I'm aware.) Imperio shouldn't be on the list as Harry used it for good reasons, though in the moment yes it was bad, breaking into a bank, but long game it was good. He also has no malicious intent and is a good person, but yet the spell worked, even thought it didn't last long. Why isn't fiendfyre an unforgivable? It can't be controlled but only by the most powerful wizards or witches and once cast it has a mind of it's own and destroys everything in its path. It has no use other than to cause destruction.

I’d always want to take the curse instead of casting it on Sebastian, but I do think it’s probably a good idea to cast it on him. He’s very interested in the dark arts so it would make sense he should understand firsthand the severity of one of the curses. Wish the game mechanics worked more like that

Would have been nice for choices to have been able to influence how his story turned out in a more significant way.

If you go dark arts we get the ending similar to the current one, ancient magic and when you ask the keepers rookwood recognizes a family curse and teaches you the counter resulting in a "good ending" without all the death and suffering from dark arts.

Voldemort and Belatrix also never managed to inflict physical damage, and they are WAY better at it then Harlow. Its whole "thing" is that its a torture curse that does no physical damage, allowing you to torture the victim indefinitely so they don't die from their wounds.

I feel like the fact that there's literally no consquence to casting unforgivable curses in front of fellow students and profesors was an obvious move to let people be as mercilessly OP as possible, which is fine (and fun) for hardcore gamers and anyone with an interest in being a dark wiazard but really ruins the immersion for any HP nerds that want a truly immersive experience. Like how no one comments on what you're wearing all game, or how the things you eat/drink disappear almost immediately, Not as important to the story, obviously, but things like that can add up to make the experience feel pretty stilted.

@@bromanoski The most ideal way to test that curse would be all three too. A magical absorbent object to absorb some of the intensity, the time duration of the spell being cast, and intention. Another factor could also be the distance of the caster between the target but that seems unlikely. Another additional factor could be that Ancient Magic users have more resistance to spells as well their spellcasting in general being more powerful. For example, the Protagonist says it was "Excruciating" and left it there. Sebastian on the other hand said "I would of done anything to make it stop" so it probably hurts him more than it does you regardless if the caster of Crucio is an Ancient Magic user or not. So if Ominis was the one casting Crucio on them, the Protagonist would have been able to take it better being an Ancient Magic user than if he were to cast it on Sebastian who is just a normal Wizard.

I chose to cast crucio on Sebastian for multiple reasons, and honestly, I'm glad I chose that option. If you do choose it, you get to see that he is completely serious in that he will do anything to help Anne - he isn't here just because of some secret interest in dark magic. He will literally take a crucio curse to help his sister. It also shows that he is a real, decent friend. He doesn't force you or try to change your mind as his friend. He just accepts that you would prefer to cast it on him, and he lets you do it without holding any grudges against you for it. I feel like you don't get to see that side of him if you let him cast the curse on you. It comes across more as him possibly wanting the chance to practice dark magic on someone with their consent. All this to say, I just liked "crucio'ed Sebastian" more as a character, haha. He seems nicer.

Crucio only works, if you use it with evil intent, the more evil you are the stronger it is. Why Bellatrix laughed at Harry and later at Miss Weasley because she only knows to harm but Molly was empowered by mother rage and grief.

evil intent isn't correct. You just have to intend to do harm, simply be hostile, the same switch you flick in your brain when you kill an animal for food, for example... That'll allow you to cast the curse, to begin with, but the curse wont be particularly potent with that alone, the way you make the curse stronger is by feeling genuine joy from seeing others in pain, to anticipate the feeling of joy from causing other pain, feel schadenfreude, basically sadism, the more intense the joy you feel from causing others pain, the more intense the pain you cause through the curse, is. Basically, you gotta have a real fked up head, in order to get good at this curse. xD

Tbh the only downside of this game is the ending. It just too bland for me and the bad ending is like a good ending. I was expecting something more darker but still it doesn’t change the fact that is was still a great game.

Yeah the bad ending is more like you've now set down this dark path. The ending did it's job isn't winning any awards. The Sebastian storyline was better than the main story haha even poppys was pretty cool.

@@admthrawnuru To be fair, it would be kind of annoying if you purposely avoid using the curses for any content involving any professor, most students, residents of Hogsmeade or really any neutral or good aligned character or faction in the game since it would basically be reduced to being only usable in world exploration and some other content. So they probably threw that out the window for gameplay which I think is probably for the best.
