I tried it with Claire. If you use the card, the elevator opens but it didn't trigger anything, if you go get the sample, fight birkin and then cure the little girl once you go back to the elevator you're stuck. What you can do is: get the g virus and skip plant 46 segment and continue story as normal

That was what I thought the 2nd part of video was gonna be about.
