i dont think this is something you can patch out. the npcs are just reacting to the terrain theyre on, no glitches are really involved. the devs seemed to forsee this too, since theyll reset their position really easily

the only problem is that things tagged with "overworld" can't go into the depths (and vice versa) unless you're using/standing on the thing you're trying to get in (so for now, you can only take Zonai devices into the depths)
