JustN64 and he seems to be pretty good friends with Grillby and the regulars at Grillby’s, along with possibly Undyne. Considering that Sans has a scientific background (he talks about science-y stuff in his Genocide battle and has entries in the True Lab), he may have been friends previously with Gaster and Alphys. Also, everyone talks about Asgore as if he is everyone’s friend and everyone in the Underground has met him, so he’s probably friends with him. Also, since I brought up Gaster and Alphys, ROYAL Scientists, people Asgore knows, he pretty much definitely knows Sans.

I did genocide just to see how difficult the battles were and to try them out but every kill (citizens and bosses or mains) I nearly started crying and I felt like the worst person ever in the world. Like I feel like I’d let people down or I’m just ashamed to do it. It makes me feel so horrible about myself and I looked away during every kill because I felt like an actual monster.

Personally , I consider this the worst ending While it never really states how long the monsters have been underground when you first arrive, it was long enough for the monsters to start to face an overpopulation problem, this give us a rough estimate as to the average frequency humans fall into the underground You might have helped with the overpopulation a bit, what with all the killings, but the problem will come back, most likely BEFORE they obtain 7 humans souls If you think they were desperate for escape before Monsters are no different than humans, and humans are really just smarter animals, and when an animal is backed into a corner, when their own life is threatened, they fight, they fight hard mercy is something they simply cannot afford When the monsters eventually get out, they will become what we've been calling them, monsters Humanity will band together to fight them off, both sides will suffer heavy casualties, but humans won before, and this time their numbers are much larger If the monsters aren't wiped out completely, they will be forced back underground, where the cycle will start anew You see, in a genocide run, once it's over, it's over, but in THIS outcome, the cycle of violence continues

That's a really interesting perspective, but there are two things you're not taking into account. 1. The genocide route isn't just the end of monsters and humans, it's the end of ALL OF EXISTENCE!!! That's why even Undyne who hates humans with every fiber in her being, wouldn't let you go up to the surface and kill everyone.. So in short Genocide IS the worst path. 2. You as the player are the last hope for all monsters, because if you don't get the perfect ending then everyone eventually die in the underground.

the genocide run can be interpreted in many different ways, so there is no reason to argue about it. but even if the genocide is just the slaughter of everyone, you still have to consider that when monsters get out, it will be because one of them got 7 humans souls, which is the equivalent of god. so, humanity would be slaughtered and we would get the worst god ever :)

It is hard to see, I mean Sans always wears the smile no matter what. He might still feel pretty sad that many people died. Then again knowing all the reset shenanigans, he could be a little relieved that it wasn't worse.

I'd've thought that this would be different, but a part of me was expecting this. You don't get to ever kill EVERYONE in Undertale, unless you literally erase the world. Even in the Genocide run, there are still the monsters that Alphys evacuated, along with Alphys herself. So the (around) 200 monsters you killed will just be summed up by Sans as "countless citizens." Even though I just counted them. So the main characters still get to be rulers over at least some monsters.
