Toriel being seemingly erased from reality reminds me of a line from Asriel during the final battle, "Every time you die, your friends forget you a little more.". Perhaps this is after the player has repeated the genocide route enough that Toriel and the others have started to be erased, also harkening back to the line from Goner Kid who talks about a reality where everything is the same except you don't exist. As for who the mysterious man in front of the tree is, Gaster seems like the most obvious choice given the resemblance of this sprite to the mystery man, and the fact his dialogue is voiced, a trait shared by the secret bosses of Deltarune who have defined ties to Gaster.

The fact that her house disappears along with her once Frisk comes out of it further solidifies Toriel's erasure from reality, as without her, that house, along with any other trace of her existence, would've never been built in the first place. Also, the fact that there was a faceless Flowey in the remains of her house after it had receded into the void shows that once the butterfly effect affected the timeline, Asgore would've never met Toriel and thus, Asriel, and by extension, Flowey, were taken from reality along with Toriel due to never having been born.

I like how during the Toriel fight, your name was in yellow. I wonder if that could mean some sort of alternate ending at some point or it just exists to show you that your character WANTS to spare her, but can't due to some unseen force. Can't be us, since we are *clearly* trying to use the mercy button too, and when we try to miss our attack, it just loops around.

A yellow name means that the character is in a state where they can be spared to end the fight. But the REASON for it, can be from either having befriended the opponent or... being weakened enough through fighting. I think it's pretty clear now what's the yellow name supposed to imply. !!!READ THIS!!! It'll explain what's going on. This is from an ARG titled Unaltered_User. The original run to be clear. If you want to theorize and watch the original ARG yourself do not read the rest of this. In the ARG CAPISTRUM is an altered version of UNDERTALE created by the ARG's Antagonist, The Entity. He is not Gaster, Flowey, or whatever the hell, he's a computer helper from the 90s called Doze The Alien who's gone rogue and infested the protagonist's computer. He messes with Alter/Michael throughout every game he plays. The Entity is the figure seen after Toriel is killed and you lose yourself. The home is the protagonist's burnt home. Not Frisk's. There are quite a few secrets in CAPISTRUM so have fun with it. EXTRA: Frisk is forced to attack Toriel because of The Entity, There are about 17 big secrets in CAPISTRUM (LOTS OF NAMING SECRETS AS WELL), This is NOT being continued. The reboot of the ARG has happened leaving the old stuff in the dust. Dead and buried. Also that flower in burnt home ISN'T flowey. It's the Entity. Flowey is dead. also yeah i made the arg n stuff

I don't buy that this entity guy isn't Gaster, at minimum he has some kind of relation to Gaster. He resembles the Mystery Man sprite, has the voice of "abc_123" which is often associated with Gaster, the door to the house looks pretty similar to the grey door in Waterfall, Gaster is heavily implied to be some form of eldritch being so the red static-y thing could also be him, they both have somewhat glitchy natures existing on the edge of reality so to speak, and so on.

In the original arg the community actually came up with names for the entity, one of them was Greg (I think, been a while since I archived the arg ngl) Tbh it was a fun arg, but yeah - Gaster played no part in the original arg, since it focused around the player, the ruins, snowdin, flowey, the skeleton brothers and the entity. There was a part of it where the player played games like UTY and Mario but they were also affected by the entity for reference as to why it isn’t Gaster and has no relation to Gaster (other than I guess Sans and Papyrus being involved with the characters) Sorry for long paragraph, haven’t talked about the arg in a while and have been waiting to again

Theory here: frisk is becoming a goner/gaster follower When you "lose a part of yourself", frisk loses both their color and their eyes. Then, right after, a being like gaster appears and teleports frisk to snowdin, all while saying they could have "stopped at any moment". I think that, due to the ammount of genocide routes frisk has done, it made the timeline so broken it started to fade off. It's only a matter of time before frisk becomes like goner kid

If I had to guess the context here im assuming that the player did a genocide run of undertale and then attempted a reset afterwards however something went wrong where everything did reset but the monsters are still slaughtered anyone thats pivotal to the story is brought back but still in their half killed state hence how flowey is still bits on the ground and toriel is slashed they all remember what you did and resent you for it yet have no true power to stop you most likely the frisk your playing as is aware theyre a mere puppet on strings hence why theyre so disheveled and feel immense guilt they don't know why theyre here or why theyre suffering they just know theyre not the ones in the drivers seat anymore and are forced to face the actions of your consequences not theirs. Yours Or alternatively this is a timeline where frisk never left the ruins and simply brought about their endless genocides in the ruins alone and that's why after the ruins it's just a normal run of undertale they couldn't bring themselves to kill toriel so thus they kept their curiosity and genocidal tendencies to the ruins thus flowey was slaughtered and Toriel was slashed and thus this eventually happened and Toriel with the aid of sans on the other side sealed you in where frisk needs to live with the guilt and whatever else is haunting them in the ruins forever because of you and your curiosity.

I realized that after Frisk found the melted plastic that Toriel is intentionally doing things like burning the ribbon, melting the plastic knife and making her utensils blunt in order to prevent any future humans from being able to kill her and destroy what's left of the underground. Which is also why (maybe with Sans' help judging by the bones in the door) she destroyed the exit to the ruins either as soon as she meets us or before that. So that no more genocides can happen.

you could also say that its undertale being so fractured from the immense amount of genocide routes the human has done and that undertale itself as a whole has now skipped time itself and has caused the rupture of time making it where everyone is in the state of alive-dead (dealived) and everything hates the player instead edit1:after seeing the star dialogue from the ruins' home, the toy knife being melted and the ribbon being burnt, i think its actually that pieces of the entirety of undertale has skipped time where every monster's skipped time is their destined death but toriel's and flowey's is in the state of dealived i mentioned which mean sans and papyrus could be in the same state as them... meaning papyrus would be literally headless edit2:nevermind at toriel fight's dialogue i think everything is at a state of skipped time and in between space and time where they are neither broken or fixed at the same time meaning i think that toriel experienced the state skip herself and is aware of her situation now (including flowey but hes dead² lol) edit3-1:toriel is dead² and now that was not a death that was a horror!sans death so my theory about the state of dealived is kind of true? toriel is different from flowey because flowey is a plant and toriel was a living monster with the memories of the endings and the state of genocide. that was an unsettling death imo like she just got deleted from existence edit3-2: gaster is at a state of probable hell and he is now more serious. and now toriel is dead² just like the plant lol- the human also gets absolutely horrified at the fact that toriel is now truly dead and knowing it was their fault and gaster gives me the "AAAA WHAT THE FU-" vibes edit4: the snowdin being fogged probably solves my theory about the state of dealived aswell... also that secret room is probably gaster's house made out of the inbetween pieces of spacetime using data from it that was torn while transferring edit5: that weird realistic house looks like THEIR house on fire and they decided to... not live from their sins and thus "waking up" as if it was a nightmare

Ok so here’s what I think is happening. This is clearly after numerous genocide runs, to the point where the world of Undertale has become corrupted, and pretty much self aware. However, Frisk was the one who wasn’t so lucky, at least not at first. They weren’t bless with the awareness that the destroyed game characters can now gain. They are still aware of the genocide runs of the past, and the resets, but they aren’t aware of the player. They think all those genocide runs were caused by Chara, and said runs clearly made Frisk worse for wear as they feel guilty for something that not even Chara had control over. To Frisk, people are blaming them, even though they’re actually blaming the player. Frisk has become the narrator, whilst also simultaneously gaining some ounce of control, still trying to go forward, just to hopefully see if things get better.

After helptale (which i came to know thanks to vibingleaf's retake of it), this is one of the best horror related undertale thing that i know now, the thing that i liked the most is that frisk and everyone else is victim of the player aka ourselves because of how many times the game Undertale was played, but the reason why they are broken and crazy or outright dead such as flowey in the intro, the promise is really the "what if every character in the game was alive" type of horror and Undertale really fits into this kind of horror due to the premise of the game being that every action of yours have consequences. I will wait for future updates
