in my last runs i always leave someone out of party, once was shadowheart(she distrust your char if you are a gith), mostly of time i leave laezel talking alone or abandon her to her kin (permadeath)

I left laezl in her cage because she refuse to ask me kindly to free her. Once i approached the gith near the bridge. My journal updated saying she is dead. And if you leave laezel go alone to meet those gith, you find her dead too at their feets

storywise, I have not read anybody commenting on the fact that Shadowheart is carrying the secret weapon that the githyanki were looking for (they were not there for Lae'zel)

I think most people don't really know that detail yet. It was really only apparent to me that the Shadowheart's box was the thing they were looking for when I did a Githyanki playthrough. Before that I'd assumed they might be related, but not that it was the real deal.

If you have Lae'zel and Shadowheart in your party and you wander around enough they have a conversation about the dragons and gith that attacked the ship. They also have an in camp fight about the artifact.

@@Solisus I know that and it works out differently in actual table top vs video game. The biggest part of the fun for table top is the group your playing with while with video games it's what you can do generally. Frankly I don't find reload my last save 50 times to lock pick a chest much fun. Also the fact that your character's skill are utterly meaningless in the face of the RNG rolls kills the point of them which further makes it more like playing slots than an RPG. Just my opinion if you like the game know yourself out but it's a janky system in a single player game medium.

2 years late comment but this kind of jank remains in the game, love the game but its kind of an immersion break, similar things like that happen often, you are in one specific section on the map, but when a fight starts, you or your foe are in completely different areas or settings.

In my current game, she's dead before we even had chance to speak. The 3 brain dudes from the crashed ship followed me to her. She turned, engaged them and died. Not sure what implications that will have further on into the area

@@animalchannel6845 I never found a way to resurrect her. The game has been through several resets since then so I chalked it up to lesson learnt, don't get her killed 🤣 Maybe you have an auto save available from before the moment she dies?

This experience was different for me. I actually didn't go to that Ruin first. I ended up at the grove after slaying some goblins, and shadowheart was waiting in the grove. I didn't even know you had to meet her at that bandit camp. So, when i found out every other player met her at that door thing and all the Wikis say you have meet her there, i was genuinely confused. Also i didn't try to free her. I thought i would be attacked by NPCs that were mind controlled and just avoided trying to free every single person as much as i could. Lol.

I think she would do fine on her own. After all what is the worst that could happen? She is an attractive, petite, tsundere half elf trapped in a valley filled with raunchy marauding goblins, orcs, ogres, hobgoblins and minotaurs while being hunted by tentacle monsters that want to capture her. I don't see any way that could go wrong, it sounds like a fun solo adventure 😁 (Should maybe put Goblin Slayers number on speed dial though just in case)

And all I was just trying to do was to avoid her helping those tieflings since she was all about removing parasite and secretly praising an evil goddess.

Necro comment. Revivify wouldn't have worked as it requires the target to be a playable character. If she never joins your party, she's not elligible for the revive.

I didn't meet her before the grove because I went exploring in the other direction too early. When she then later showed up at my camp I failed the rolls and battle began. Knocked her unconscious in hopes of being able to talk to her later again. Next day she attacked me again. That went on for four more days before I finally decided to just kill her.

I knocked her out, healed her to full and the next time I went back to camp she was up and just attacked me again. I'm not sure if it's a glitch with early access though

I feel like as the MC of the story, the Emperor was focusing most of his attention on protecting you and your immediate party, which left Shadowheart vulnerable to the whispers of the Absolute demanding bloodshed mixing in which his subliminal messaging to her to find them.

I played with her in a partial playthrough with a wizard main. There's probably something about her that I am missing, but she really seems to me to be a garbage character as far as effectiveness goes. I restarted with a Ranger Hunter Colossus Slayer. I have teamed up with Lae'zel, Astarion, and Gale. The damage output with this group allows for me to get through encounters without the need for a dedicated healer. Using food consumables, I'm able to keep on trucking without rest between encounters. Shadowheart stays in camp, and watches Scratch the dog.

Guiding bolt 2 is one of the hardest hitting spells in early and it gives advantage. She is also the only healer your getting.

She's not terrible. She's more of a support character than a damage dealer. Her effectiveness depends on the way in you use her. If given proficiency in weapons (light crossbows and maces recommended) she can grow become a useful Fighter/Cleric hybrid. For Instance, her Blessing of The Trickster greatly increases stealth rolls enabling theives to engage in sneak-attack 1 v 1 tactics to their fullest potential without triggering hour long turn-based battle sequences. Her Create Water spell can alter terrain at will setting up spellcasters to use lightning based spells for increased damage. Her spell Bane cripples enemy attack rolls while dropping their saving throws against spells with additional effects. It works perfectly with her Sacred Flame cantrip since it usually sucks because of it's saving throw clause. By dropping enemy saving throws it hits harder and more accurately while enabling spellcasters with saving throw spells to devastate even more. She's a nuanced character that can contribute alot to a party who's user understands her spell's mechanics and how they synergize. Her strategies rely less on hacking and slashing than about setup to make your other party members more effective in combat.

the +6 comes off the target, not added to the roll. So the check was 15, but becomes 9 with the +6 modifier. It was doing my head in as well until I worked it out in game.

@@Cobravenom69 I think it is the same mechanic, just calculated differently I dont mind them doing it that way. What I wish was a bit more transparent was how the equations are being resolved as they are being resolved. So if they take the proficiencies off of the target rather than adding them to the dice roll, then maybe find a way to indicate on the roll screen itself that the target has been impacted by proficiency scores... You could make the number green or red, depending on a + or - proficiency being applied, and then show the details when mousing over for example. Either way, the numbers are seeming to add up :) and that's probably what matter in the end. I think for newcomers to D&D, it might be more jarring to see a d20 roll be higher than 20, after proficiencies are added to the roll, which would then make perfect sense as to why they chose to do it the other way.

Yes it is possible to play solo though it might be very difficult in mass encounters. Romances are the exact opposite of forced. With the exception of Gale a player has to go out of their way to trigger romances with some of these characters. Which really isn't worth it in my opinion.

What happens? Same thing that happens anytime you do anything in this game, you fail the roll and have to reload your last save 57 times before the game allows your character with masterful powers of speech to succeed. Really though that RNG crap ham strings the fuck out of this game.

She's a worshipper of Shar, they have an oath to secrecy, so much so that they would even erase parts of their memories for the mission. Shadowheart is a very cautious person, once she starts to trust you conversations with her become very pleasant. She's not homicidal either, so if you want to have a good or neutral run, she's a must.

@ people have different tastes is all. i quite enjoy jar-jar from star wars, while he is one of the most hated characters in sci-fi movies and i dont know anyone else who doesnt hate him. as for bg3, i will safe my judgement of the characters untill i have completed the entire game after its full release, but i doubt i will love a character in this game more than i do the characters in dragon age origins.
