I'm pretty sure most people are wondering how do you charge it then if you aren't at a station. Like how you can run out of gas on the side of the road. It happens, and is a valid question. I'm personally stunned that a Tesla can't be towed unless it's on a flatbed or a trailer. And by the way, gas cars have range calculators as well. Teslas aren't the only ones you have them, and they're pretty accurate on gas cars too. My 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee has one. And yet, people still run out of gas because they just forget to keep an eye on the mileage they have left. The same thing happens with tesla's, because I've seen many a Tesla in my area being towed despite having four perfectly good tires, likely because they ran out of charge.
@AnnisAdventures
@AnnisAdventures 2 жыл бұрын
@RedBullRacing Really? As far as I've seen, all cars have a calculator for that. You may not have just found it yet, as it could be located in the dash computer or the center console, or if you have an overhead computer it might say it there. In my 96 BMW it was labeled on the center console as Range.

I got down to zero miles in my Tesla once. Tesla's calculate whether or not you can make it to the next charger. This was early before there were as many chargers and I was off the map. Meaning on an unapproved map. I was trying to drive around a very bad winter storm and I didn't make it. I got caught up in the middle of the worst of it. My Tesla told me not to take that route and tried to re route me another way and I went any way. To make matters worse I didn't realize I was running the heater before I even needed it. Just going by the milage I could make it but it was going to be close. I knew I would need all the range I could get. What I didn't plan on was the mountains. Reduced range while climbing uphill. I was in a blizzard. My car told me to slow down. Or I wouldn't make it to the next charger. I slowed down. I kept getting warnings. Slow down. I got down to 25 mph I drove like that for four hours. The conditions were so bad no one was going over about 35. I kept driving. It was the middle of the night nothing was open. Then it happened zero miles. I thought the car would shut down. I had about 15 miles to go. Just then I city appeared. I guess I was going uphill the whole time. But because visibility was low and the city was over the mountain I couldn't see it. I started costing downhill and my car started generating electricity. By the time I got to the bottom I had 6 or 7 miles and about the same to the charger. I kept driving I barely made it. These were some of the hardest chargers I have ever had to find. I pulled in on zero. Went to the first chapter not working. The second charger not working the third worked. I think my battery was so low the first two couldn't detect them. The last one was must have been calibrated a little better I changed up just fine. I've new driven about 120,000 miles and that's the only time I ever came to running completely out of juice. I began to wonder did I regenerate? Or is there a reserve that kicked in? I still wonder to this day.

Are you driving or camping? MOST people park and camp then get back in to go home after they are done camping. Your case of LIVING in bush which is not what 99.99% of humans call camping. I guess having a Solar charger that can charge (slowly over a couple days) w2ould work. Then you have FULL charge Deep in the Bush. Can you but gasoline in the Bush?
@gorkyd7912
@gorkyd7912 9 ай бұрын
@@asommer518 "Camping" LOL. People are so self-centered and isolated they have no idea how other people live. "99.9% of all humans live exactly like me so you're just weird I guess." You don't need to buy gasoline or diesel in the bush for multiple reasons. #1 you put 30 gallons of diesel and your truck goes 540 miles at 60 degrees and it still goes 500 miles at -20 degrees. You don't buy more diesel when the temperature drops, but your Tesla would lose a vast amount of its already short range if the temperature dropped. #2 parking and sitting out in the wilderness does not evaporate your diesel within a couple weeks, you're still going 500 miles 2 weeks later, there's no draining. Over a 2-week period your Tesla could lose 15% of its already low range from battery drain. #3 if you're planning to be off grid for 2 weeks you can buy an extra couple cans of diesel for less than $100 and extend your range by another 300+ miles.

I have a Tesla 3 SR+. It's my first car. It kinda sucks in long road trip and touring around in big national parks. After two years my battery can only hold a little less than 230 mi. And pratically you at max get 200 mi of range because superchargers are not in any way near national parks, except Yosemite, and it's mentally tormenting when your battery is less than 10% and you still have a long way til you reach your supercharger. Once in Rainier I used my battery to 2% to get to supercharger, I had to drive slower than 50 mi/hr and it was very stressful. It's a lot easier to drive my mum's gas car. Besides, road trips should be spontaneous and fun, meaning u find interesting stuff along the way, but not just going from one location to the other. Tesla is only able to get you from one location to the other, so it's not a good option for road trips. If you're just commuting from home to work, it's a great car. Cheap to charge and stylish...

@@ChrisM78 So you're so self centered that you wouldn't get an electric car because of the possibility of running out of power even though all you would have to do is pay attention to your gauge. Interesting. Let's all live in the past and kill the planet because it's more convenient. You have some people who charge their own cars with solar panels that also power their houses, and they have total energy independence, and you have some people who would rather pay whatever the oil companies charge them, because vroom vroom. I'll stick with energy independence and being able to have much more money for more important things. The quicker people like yourself come around, the better it will be for everyone. You don't get to complain about the tech if you're part of the reason there's not enough demand for better infrastructure and battery technology. It's like the Republicans shooting down a bill to stop gas price gouging. They then don't get to complain about gas prices. Look at how stupid everything is. Pulling dead animal goo out of the ground, then shipping it far away to a refinery by trucks that use the stuff, then using those same trucks to drive it around the country so people can fill their cars and pollute more. Not to mention balancing wires on poles to get electricity to people's houses. Better to have solar generator units on the houses themselves and charge the cars with it. It's the only thing that makes sense right now. Repeating the same shit has never worked for anyone. But it seems that people are attached to dumb behavior because we're used to it. I've seen that all the arguments against electric cars are short sighted and silly. You say you care about now. Next year will be the new now. Will your excuse be the same then? It's just a bad excuse.

@Vlasko60 Gas car drivers will be less likely to constantly watch the gauge, or they may "risk it" more often. This is because gas cars have less of a problem if they run out. They don't become a brick or need towed, they just get a gallon and drive 15-30 miles from that. Tesla owners gauge watch for the same reason that a pilot of an aircraft gauge watches. The potential consequences are much higher. Most people can remember running out of gas. Most people never were in an airplane crash caused by low fuel. That's because of this disparity in consequences.
@matthewmosier8439
@matthewmosier8439 Жыл бұрын
@Vlasko60 It's not an easy fix, though. ICE cars need only a square foot and 20 pounds of fuel to go another 70 miles or more than 70 miles. An EV (as they currently exist) needs 3,000 pounds and 24 square feet of fuel in order to drive at all. That's the drawback to a car sized battery. If you are broken down in an electric car you cannot just take off a 20 pound section of the battery and go pick up charge at a station. It's all or nothing. Your car is basically useless unless it can physically be towed or unless it can arrive at a charging station on it's own four wheels. This kind of inconvenience cannot just be overlooked if proponents of electric vehicles want to convince people to buy an EV.

The navigation will inform you of how many available stalls. If some are out of order they won't be included. If the entire station is down, then your navigation will not go there.
