I’ve been deadlifting weekly for 25 years and have a strong back and no back pain. I tell my non lifting friends they have back pain cause they don’t deadlift and I have no pain cause I do them. It’s the king of the lifts, you either can or can’t lift it, unlike the squat or bench where you can cheat depth and range of motion.
@kyledodson29929 ай бұрын
You’re indeed correct about most of that…. BUT…. The power clean is the ultimate big Penni energy lift
@brutus0079 ай бұрын
@@kyledodson2992 I agree the clean is probably the best whole body exercise if done off the floor but the deadlift will create more absolute strength.
@abadran81749 ай бұрын
@@brutus007 deadlift will gradually take away your mobility. You will start walking differently, not in a good way. However, deadliftimg weekly makes me think you do lots of other work and if that's the case then that shouldn't apply to you.
@brutus0079 ай бұрын
@@abadran8174 how would it take away your mobility? How would it change your gait? I only use barbells and free weights, I also squat weekly. Basically train 4x per week, 2 upper body days and 2 lower body days and never used a machine. Been doing that for years and feel amazing. The most important aspect in training besides progression and exercise selection is managing the training variables; volume, intensity (% of 1rm), and frequency. Only 2 can be high, the other low. Intensity and frequency ftw!
@abadran81749 ай бұрын
@@brutus007 you're right, and good for you, man. Deadlift tightens all of the posterior chain of you don't do mobility work. Many get ducked into the powerlifting lifts and stop almost anything else and this makes the body look a certain way and the walk does change. I think how it changes the gait (and that's just an educated guess) is a combination of tightness of muscles, big thighs that physically obstruct normal walk, and synaptic pruning. The latter is because of them not doing other work.

When i was fifteen I "snapped my back" in my high-school weight room using a squat machine. My 2 friends and I were showing off. I'm 43 now and haven't been able to bend in any direction without flexing my core since.
@IsaiPR8 ай бұрын
That’s why barbell squat is superior to any machine variation. Machines will always give you false confidence and are much more dangerous than learning the actual movement and working every muscle needed together. Hope you’re doing fine!
