Once saw a video filmed in some jail where a guy was sat on a chair. Other lads stood around got him to say that he was a scumbag who hit women, that was his 'confession' and they knocked fuck out of him.

Yes, Ricky. It's good to see you looking so well and, as always, a very good podcast. Ricky, while i was on B wing in Wakefield prison in 1987, there was a very strange little Irish man who arrived there. His name is Kieron Patrick Kelly, and Patrick was a serial killer of homeless and vulnerable people. After his eventual arrest, Keiron also murdered another person in the police station cell, where they were detained. When I say that, Keiron Patrick Murphy was a strange man, I mean exactly that. If he came anywhere near to where you were sat, either alone or with my mates from the Northeast, the atmosphere totally changed, and you would feel uneasy because the man was as nutty as a fruit cake, literally ranged and one weired little man. You and anyone can learn all about Kieron and his life story on KZbin, and even Doctor Linda Popadopalus, the criminal psychological profiler, explains a lot about Kierons psychological profile. As always a great podcast Ricky, nice 👍

I remember replacing a murdered prisoner, from one cat A to another which was next door, their was still blood under the metal staircase, the prisoner was killed because he used another prisoners water bucket, they had little allotments to grow veg and such, the prisoner borrowed the bucket and lost his life, after my move to replace him, the IRA and others went on the roof of the prison I had just left, I went on the roof where I had been moved to, my re-arrangement of the roof tiles was not to their liking, But solitary never troubled me...

Wakefield Prison Authorities have just put Maudsley in the "too hard basket", he specifically targeted Nonces but as far as the Prison Authorities are concerned, he poses a risk to anyone, to keep him isolated and unable to even communicate with other inmates for over four decades is just the Prison Authorities meting out their own form of cruelty when it is well within their means to provide him with a cell from which he can see and communicate with other inmates. He has fully accepted his incarceration and is apparently not volatile towards Staff.

I witnessed a murder in Lancaster jail back in 1990..I reported finding the body. Of a 7stone weakling. Who had been the prey of 2 15stone meat head bullys..They had battered there victim with heavy table legs and for good measure garroted him with a piece of nylon rope....The kid was of below average intelligence. Should not have been in main stream prison..He was a Convicted murderer .who had a on going appeal against conviction ...His Father maintained via news media .that his Son had not only been rail roaded (stitched up) By the Police..But had been brutally murdered whilst in custody...The 2 meat-head..convicts. Were only doing very short sentences...They had DECIDED to meat out there own justices ..to anyone who they thought deserved it..They were both given life sentences for there Heinous crime ...

Also, I suppose that the inmates that commit murder inside a prison are already serving a life sentence, or in some cases they’re facing or awaiting the death penalty, so they got absolutely nothing to lose, so at that point what would they care about taking another life, how more could they get punished, that is why I firmly believe those that are serving life sentences that have a propensity to be violet should automatically be put solitary confinement, separated from the rest of the inmates, or have a tier or ward just for the lifers. It’s not right at all and dangerous to put those serving life sentences who will never see freedom again with those serving for much lesser crimes that are only serving a limited time, and which they will eventually get released.

It would be nigh on impossible to watch the inmates all the time, once they’re unlocked for association they’re left to get on with it.The cat A jail I worked in was difficult to supervise the inmates and if you kept walking up and down the landings checking on them you would soon be told where to go.There might only be 3 officers to look after upwards of 150 inmates Prison’s actually run on the the good will of the inmates, there are more inmates than staff on duty at any given time

Everyone gets locked up immediately if theres a death ive been on a Spur/Wing when 2 suicides occoured and all movement was stopped and inmates put behind their doors. That was back in 04-06 tbh theres a new generation of screws now and ive heard the change is not for the better.
