The I&O! I’ve seen so many of JT’s videos on it that I feel as if I know it personally. This was a great video as it addresses things we always take for granted, such as the gates don’t work. This is why I love to watch. JT sticks his camera in where the unimaginative don’t think to go and gets us shots that only make us want more. The short line action is where it’s at; the everyday hauling and drilling that is the lifeblood of the line. And no one - repeat, no one - covers it quite like JT. He’ll remember to cover things that fly past others and provide explanations to keep us posted. The best part of all is that he never rests on his laurels. He’s always looking for something new to show us, as with the recent series on the shoo-fly he found in Kentucky. Keep going JT. We’ll be watching.

@@JawTooth I don't see how this qualifies as a malfunction? Sure the arm is stuck in the upright position, and a railroad repairman is on the scene fixing it, but my opinion of a malfunction is when NOTHING works. This crossing had its lights and bell activated, even though only one arm was down.

If you find crossing signals / gates that are not working properly look for the electrical cabinet and there should be a toll free phone number that you could call the RR on to report the problem. There may be an ID number unique to that crossing to use when reporting the problem. Some times there may be a sign on or very near to the pole the lights and / or gates are attached too with the phone number and crossing ID number.

If you ever go back to La Grange KY, look on the buildings by Main Street for the Virtual Railfan cameras, there’s one facing north and one south. I know one (if not both) is on this building: 111 W Main St La Grange, KY . Wave to the camera and you will likely be on their (typically) two day grab bag videos. (You could also hold a sign to promote your channel if you wanted and they’d likely include you.) VRF also has cameras at other places you’ve been, such as Deshler, OH and Plant City, FL. On your last La Grange train Video I saw that you positioned yourself right by the cameras and had actually watched the train live on VRF. I didn’t even realize that you were there recording the same train I watched. Having grown up near La Grange, I loved to watch the trains, but didn’t know of the VRF camera (installed there mid 2017) until a couple years ago. I figured I’d let you know in case you were unaware and let you decide what to do from their. Either way, I’m looking forward to the next neat video you share with us!

Indiana & Ohio, with the Genessee & Wyoming paint scheme. Up here in my part of Quebec, Canada, we have the St. Lawrence & Atlantic (also G&W) which runs from the rail yard in Richmond (where it picks up cars brought down from Montreal by CN), down to below the US border. When making up the trains to head south, they often block the level crossing at the south end of town, which is just a few feet from one of the 2 bridges heading across the river (resulting in traffic sometimes backing up half way across the bridge.) The yard starts several hundred feet north of the crossing. A side note: The old passenger station (which had rooms for railway workers upstairs) has been restored and turned into a restaurant, reception hall, and a motel. From the upper floor, there is a good view of the 10-track wide rail yard.

I live near some kind of silos that has tracks that lead into the plant that are covered in rust, also there are weeds growing on the track. The main track is however heavily used. We have bidirectional trains 🚂 zooming past our apartment all the time. There is a narrow spot that concerns me because if the gates fail and it’s a no horn area, this spot of freeway access road is too narrow to look both ways going 60mph to see if a train is going to cross the road. If you ask me, it’s a matter of when their will be an accident. .
