I think the issue here is that withering can't spawn infected mob but only convert existing mob. So I think it should have some mob close to the infection so maybe he could have a chance. Or simply wasn't made to fight other infection... But I didn't expect obama infection....

I played a mod pack with withering away and flesh that hates and from what I’ve seen they go nutty when they encounter each other in terms of combat. The flesh ended up activating rage mode naturally for the withering in one of my games. The wither biomes are a hard counter to the flesh when they try to make their way through. And from what I’ve seen the mobs sometimes turn each other. It’s pretty much an either way battle between entropy and regeneration. The withering does send colonies using the wither traveler to spawn another blob. The withering and flesh are converters but the flesh can spawn natural mobs and the wither has to work for it. The wither does have stages but they are just mobs adapted ones and they take awhile to do it. I’ve seen the wither group to harass a community once. Also tried the sculk and withering but the sculk clears it due to a faster spread rate.

This was honestly hilarious, but after last time, I feel more empathic towards devs starting out rather than be disappointed a given infection mod can't really fight another. With enough popularity, who knows, Withering could get to that point if the devs see this

You could do gigeresque vs from another world, since the xenos are friendly toward sculk and spread resin they might be able to stop the creation of assimilated sculk, by converting it into resin.
