This is unfortunately what happens when you do not reinforce any training whatsoever for over 6 months with your dog. They lose that edge, bad habits develop and rust starts to form. Astro gets a little TLC & rust removal from us while his owner is out of town.

Hi Garret, I'm 15 years old and a fellow dog trainer from Australia. I help people with dogs that no one else will touch. I know I'm late for this video, but thanks so much for the video. Just 2 questions: 1. What sort of treats do you use? Is it kibble, is the freeze-dried treats is it fresh meat etc. 2. When you gave that e collar correction for not going into a down, what level was that on, and also what model of dogtra is that. Do you do a set number of levels above the working level to find the correction level, or not? Thanks heaps and I look forward to hearing your response. :)@@AmericanStandardK9

Rotties are puppies til the day they die!!! My 13 and 14 yo boys certainly were. Hie prey drive is actually lovely to see! It’s not over the top but can easily be channeled into a wonderful working drive. I would take him in a heartbeat❤

Such an inspiration. My 6-month rottie does all that already. But we work him E- collar and reward every single day. Living in a tourist location in Panama he is always off leash. The Dogtra E collar is a life saver. The hardest command to teach however is the free command. We try to incorporate the hand signals immediately after marking commands with food. At 6 months he is 80lb mediem to high drive. We work on driving building with bark command to get him rialed up. Thx for your amzing videos super cool to watch where my goal is, a 130lb friendly beast. Power is being a monster and learning how to control it. No one wants a gardern in a war but a warrior in a garden is ok. Same things with Rotties, a controed monster is a must.

i got 2 rottie lab mixes with the older one part corso as well, both are big and powerfull dogs, the younger one is about 80 pounds the older about 110. I taught them both since they were puppies and did not ever use the E-collar, still i have about 90% obedience off leash with the older dog and about 70% with the younger one (the younger one has a bit more of prey drive than the older one and it's hard to get her out of that offleash). I socialized them both with people cats and other dogs pretty early so now unless i say to attack they dont ever do it on their own, they are both taught to be guard dogs and to do their job without attackiing if not extremely necessary (only if directly attacked they respond), did all the work on them myself mostly and im super proud of how they turned out with the added caveat that the younger one can still learn so much more, i had a period when she was still a pup when i was super sick and at that time we slacked a bit with our training, for like 4 months, but when i got back to health and started to train them again it was like i just did that yesterday, no rust, they did not forget anything they still were able to perform every command on cue. American bred rotties almost all seem to have problems with agression when not managed correctly, im glad to see Astro doesnt, he is such a good boy, very nice temperament, i love to see that playfull energy of his, mine do that as well and to me it feels amazing when they do, i just love that energy

My rotti is a ball of energy as well at 4 I am using a lot of your techniques to. Tighten up my boy he is bad at going after trucks the bigger the better but right now we are still doing leash corrections still but he is coming along thank you for your awesome videos they do help if you want to put in the time
@weedhigh2564

seems like most rotties got a fascination for trucks, my younger one does as well, to be precise she tends to have a major problem with the front right left tire of trucks and like you said, the bigger the better. Its a hell of a thing to get under control tho, mine is 2 and she is getting better about it but she still has loads of road to go, we got a nice delivery guy that comes around every saturday at 11 so we have a standing date with his truck and whenever he can the neighbour helps us out as well, i was thinking what would happen if i just overwhelm her with trucks, if i take her somewhere where theere is a shitton moving trucks at all times.... might as well try it now

they are not as easily trainable as some might think they are pretty stubborn and get easily distracted
@weedhigh2564
@weedhigh2564 Жыл бұрын
@@kierenbuckley370 well they come in all shapes and sizes, i got 2 rottie labs, one is part corso as well, the corso one was super hard to train untill i figured her out, after that she was a breeze, would learn anything i wanted her to with 0 problems, the other one (which is younger and i am more experience as the corso one was my first dog) was a breeze right from the start even tho she has more of that whimsical rottie nature, she tends to get easily distracted at times, really depends on the distraction these days as im working to train that out of her but lizzards and weasels still distract her right away, however i was warned at the start when i got the corso one that they are stubborn but i really dont see it that way, they just want things done in a certain way (at least mine do) but if you accomodate them with it they tend to repay you big time, if anything i would say they can be extremely patient and forgiving (again, at least mine) as with my first one i really had no clue what i was doing but she is now 9 living her best life, she had it all and still does and she seems pretty gratefull. No matter the shit we went through she trusted me to lead the way and do the right things and we did, she was of big help whenever i was in doubt i just thought so how does she fit in in all of this and if she didnt i would not go for that and it always paid off, i became a trainer mainly thanks to her and she really changed my life for the better so some might say im biased, and i probably am but still, Rotties are one of the most amazing breeds out there and if you really want a life companion, you cannot go wrong with Rotties

@@haydenchalmers4886 Yea I wonder. The owners did not reinforce his training at all. Smart dog so he took advantage. A few minutes with me or any other decent trainer/handler he'll probably fall right back in line. Rusty but still reliable.

@@AmericanStandardK9 I c that with Beau. I’m not so strict at home ,but when I start asking things of him in a few minutes he’s right back where I got him from you. Shows your great training and you putting in those foundations he just comes back to in a few minutes. I can c Beau knows what I want him to do but doesn’t want to bang the e collar brings him back and he shows at that second he hasn’t forgotten much . 👍

Hi! So is the e-collar like a shock collar?
@1packatak
@1packatak Жыл бұрын
No the ecollar provides a safe stim to the dog that lets him know there is something he needs to correct. Modern well made electronic training collars work just like a TENS unit physical therapists use.
