I think the crash at the end was because the trigger for Hop stopping you from entering the grass is still loaded, but can't load in his talking animation. I'd be interested to see if it's possible to unlock the flying taxi early and travel to some later game locations without a Pokémon, or if all no pokemon sequence breaks cause the game to crash

This game actually handles this very well. Especially when you go to the select Pokemon it just says there's no Pokemon and that's it. If you try to battle with no Pokemon it will crash. Which is better than game breaking glitches!

Gamefreak really attempted to not spawn wild pokemon if the player dosent have 1 pokemon if it was using hacks... on gen 6 and 7 it worked normaly and if you didint have 1 pokemon it puts a placeholder one and the placeholder was a bulbasaur but in sword and shield they put the placeholder model to pikachu of course as almost all the dex was cutted so it makes sense
