One thing I noticed is that you always move first. If you use an item like lagging tail or ability like stall, that forces you to move last, would it actually mess the scripted battle and softlock the game? Also, maybe you can scape by holding a shed shell or smoke ball?

From ditto being able to transform and get it moves with no bugs we can observe that this is a real pokemon. So theoretically if you somehow hacked a pokeball throwing option into the menu you could have a legendary pokemon in the tutorial of the game.

It's worthless to suggest moves, only their animation plays and their effects don't trigger in the first place. That's why you need to think in terms of ablities and items. My suggestions: - Trace. What ability will you copy from the doggo? - Mold Breaker/Neutralizing Gas. Will that allow you to bypass the anti-move effect?

In basically every game, there's wild and trainer battles, with trainer battles preventing running and pokeballs in its programming In Ultra games, there's form battles and the Aether laboratory battle, where pokeballs are disabled (run might be disabled as well in form battles, haven't tested) In this game, there's this battle, where it forces the Bag and Pokemon options to not be there, is scripted to have the enemy Pokemon do specific things, and displays the enemy's level as ???. Move effects aren't called, so nothing works. However, abilities still work, as the battle is supposed to look normal at first. It also prevents running

Now that i've seen both videos, they did a really good job on this. They knew people would hack into the system. Thus, they made it almost impossible for this part of the game to be game breaking. Not only did they restrict catching (so you couldnt just get an instant legendary in the beginning) but even if it was possible to do anything (such as the experiments in the two videos), they made sure that managing to kill Zacian or Zamazenta only gave 1 exp to still keep people from going too crazy on this fight without breaking the game. Well done Gamefreak... Well done *starts clapping from being impressed* ._.

Pretty sure the fight gives 1 EXP because that's the default amount and they never bothered to change it because they thought it was impossible to beat anyway. If anything, the fact that using moves on YOURSELF doesn't work or at least get alternate dialogue shows how _little_ thought they put into this game...

It would still be the same outcome of you just finding yourself on the ground because you "blacked out" from the battle. Sure, maybe it would be cool to just end the battle by self fainting your pokemon but as a gamer, it won't make sense to be losing any money for a battle that gives nothing as a reward. Not to mention it being in the beginning of the game where you barely have anything. 😂

So basically the weird illusion animation for Zacian/Zamazenta's first encounter only occurs with the starter Pokémon. Any other Pokémon, you're able to see the attack animations but the text box about the move not affecting still pops up. So, essentially, the starters are locked into not being able to "attack" the doggos This is interesting actually!

Struggle is a move, so I doubt it’s coded to work (but I’m curious to see that anyway) Legendaries and mythicals are all the same as far as the coding is concerned, they wouldn’t be able to attack. Magic Bounce wouldn’t work since this is a field effect, I assume some sort of unused terrain since it worked with Hail.

Look you can forget about using moves. There's a script within the battle itself that changes their effect into "The move had no effect?" So unless you find a way to bypass it no attack will help.

That with Shedinja was a really cool idea. Was it healed after the battle? The developers might have overlooked that since they never expected you to be able to take damage during the fight. It might be a good idea to test some other pokemon abillities/items that work outside of the attacking phase because that phase seems to be skipped.

You might not take damage during the fight, but you can take damage before it. You’re fully healed after the fight.

It makes sense that GF didn't actually code in anti ability/item effect into the fight. By this point the only expected thing for us would be out starter which only has an ability that affects their Same type move and no items. Still it seems they used some kind of global script for it though since no datamine revealed an ability like that to exist.

also try hacking moves like defog perish song and mean look onto a golurk with no guard since we saw that no guard made it so your moves could hit/target even though they did no damage also try stuff like curse and then some self damaging items that can kill quick enough or even something like life orb and see if h still take damage even if u cant deal damage to them

Defog, Perish Song, and Mean Look all landed on the Pokémon. As we've seen from these tests, literally all forms of moves won’t be usable, and it’s not because of accuracy. Curse won’t work either because it’s a move, and there’s no way to give the Pokémon a self-damage item since the only ways are by *moves* The only things we can do to try outcomes at this point are items on our own Pokémon, or abilities.
