Void Rivals is also really cool, by itself and because of the references and cameos of Transformers, and the Cobra Commander is also interesting, even tho I don't care for GI JOE I really liked that comic. We know what Jetfire was doing tho. He explained it in Transformers #1. We don't know what knocked him offline, but we can guess it's obvious enough: He was searching for a way to save Cybertron and he just ran out of juice. Void Rivals, where he first appeared in the continuity, doesn't go into it any further, concentrating instead of its own characters and teasing the Quintessons along the way in the background.

I've been a fan of DWJ since his Extremity comic, so when I heard he was getting Transformers, I was hyped. And as usual with him, he exceeded expectations. I do recommend his other series. Extremity, Murder Falcon, the most recent Beta Ray Bill following the Thor run by Danny Cates in 2020, pretty much anything with his name on it is insanely good.

I love that Optimus and the other humans reflect on war and how it takes a toll on them. I also liked that Starscream was so evil he and soundwave turned Skywarp into teletran 1 and when Thundercracker asked what happened Screamer flat out lied and when Thundercrack found out the truth he was ready to get it back in blood for him

This helped me with fan fiction that dealt with a new story. It influenced the 1980s background spike and the appearance of Carly. Set them up as real people in the 2007 Transformers movie, Sam and Michaela. Spike and Carly are 41 years old, and one day Decepticon, who thinks his great-great-grandfather and glasses are involved, presses Spike. He is writing that he works with Autobots to protect his family.

I just finished reading volumes 1 to 6 of the Skybound Transformers comics yesterday, and you're right, Fire. It is Transformers at its best! I love how it combines the best of both G1 and the Bayverse movies. I'm glad that many of the other Autobots get their chance to shine, like Cliffjumper and Jazz.

In my opinion while I was abit skeptical at first when I first saw the art style of the skybound transformers, thinking that it would be like a shot for shot and line for line retelling of the original generation one series, but I can certainly say that this isn’t the case I would say this is more of a love letter to the original generation one but modernising it, it kinda reminds me of the Dreamwave Generation One Transformers comics when it comes to tone. The series definitely does do a good job at making the reader sympathise with autobots and actually despise the decepticons. While I am still abit mixed on the art style it probably will improve and I probably will get used to it when more issues are made. So yeah so far I would probably say the skybound transformers comics are probably the best transformers related project in recent years and would definitely recommend it to those who want to get into the franchise.

First of all I never read the comics but seeing Optimus Prime mourning Bumblebee death made my heart sink whoever killed my precious Bumblebee shall pay, and Starscream and his Seekers killing humans is really gruesome and the fact my sister loves Starscream she doesn't know that he kills humans and Optimus ripping out his arm out to fight Skywarp is PEAK AND SO CREATIVE this is a masterpiece created this something I'll definitely read after I'm done watching Transformers One and get my dad's permission for it.

My favorite thing about this entire comic as a whole is the fact that it doesn’t try to change the source material and is PROUD of being g1 while also being new. Like we all knew it could be Also for the love of god WHY DID IT TAKE SO LONG FOR A GOOD VERSION OF OPTIMUS TO ACTUALLY BE OPTIMUS! Spoilers by the way, read at your own risk: 1. I don’t like how small primes head is, it’s like a tiny bean inside a mech suit. Very distracting. 2. Skywarps death. Made no sense the more you think about it. Why couldn’t they take cybertronian alloy from literally anywhere else around them? The other corpses? The ship itself? Why kill the dude who teleports? Reeeaaally felt like shock value vibes. 3.while the humans are improved massively. I still find it hard to believe they’d see the big jet robot talking about how weak and small they are and how dumb the truck robot is for defending them, yet STILL decide to keep the settings on free for all. And the last one is too good to be spoiled even with its faults so all I’ll say is,”matrix work funny.”

I wholeheartedly agree with your assessment on the found family dynamics and themes, found throughout the comics so far. Especially with spike and Prime, how an innocent human sees an alien about to be killed for seemingly no reason and he helps and Prime later returns the favor I cannot wait to see what happens next. And by that I mean how badly Soundwave is going to beat Starscream for wasting resources and manpower, resulting in the loss of the ark. Also what do you think of the enegron/Skybound universe G.I. Joe comics? Cause they are linked to the transformers ones cause Starscream kinda sets the G.I Joe comics in motion with that one kill he does.

Alright so one thing about Skybound that's annoying to have to deal with is needing to read all of the other comics in the Energon Universe to fully know what's going on. Best example from the mysteries you talked about is with Jetfire, and how he actually appeared in the first comic of the Energon Universe, Void Rivals, though only as a surprise for when it initially came out. Void Rivals is actually a pretty good series, and has a lot of featured Transformers in it, too, though the main focus of the story is between the Agorrian and Zertonian MCs to work together. There's also some crossover with the GI Joe mini-series going on right now, though that one's a lot less interesting to me because it's just army dudes doing army crap, and only touches a tiny bit on the Bots and Cons.

Skybound Optimus is honestly the best adaptation of him in my opinion! He has a compassionate and heroic nature that allows him to find peaceful solutions while having the ruthlessness to do what needs to be done. Tf prime is a favorite of mine and I still like the Optimus there but it always annoyed me that he would be too merciful especially to Megatron. Hell Ratchet in the series actually calls him out on it!

I think by the end of the day the Bayverse and the Skybound are awesome in their own rights. Like Godzilla anyone can enjoy how they like the BIG G. Maybe he can go goofy or be a realistic villain. I really don't like the art style. it doesn't have a modern art style and often looks scribbley and cheap. And they not even try to do something new. Copy paste G1 character designs. Visuality very important in the comics. Thats way this is a huge miss for me.

When you see nothing wrong with "wearing" your enemies arm (don't care about the justification) -- you went beyond "give me your face !" Movie Optimus, into "hey, I'm wearing your face . Lol." Territory . But in other news : "... trust me bro, I'm really upset about stepping on a dear & I will transform for sick kids to make them feel better!" . Yeah, these two things don't jive . One does not excuse the other . So when Megatron shows up, takes back his arm , and (hopefully) beats this Prime to death with it -- it'll be satisfying to see on some level . But on another level -- the one that sees the Post-Modernist subversion of Transformers continuing from IDW to Skybound -- the attempted darkening of your childhood memories by telling you again and again and again (through various story telling & "self examination" from the character) , that "true heroes" , the Red White Blue heroes (that G1 Optimus literally is .... just look at his color scheme) -- those heroes don't actually exist ... --- and then they try ... they dare to try ... to tell the little kid inside you ... -- inside all of us who love this shit -- they dare to try to tell that kid inside that these heroes never truly existed , that when you were 3-5 years old, and secretly wanted G1 Optimus to be (somehow) your dad also ... , because you saw his deeds, and you heard his words , and they spoke to something primal in you back then ... -- your basic ability to tell good from bad , and you wanted to be good, just as good as Optimus was at the time . They want to shit all over that kid that you were, and tell you , or "little Johnny" or whoever : "listen kid, those guys you loved, well , along side being heroes, they were also wife beaters, and rapists , and you know, maybe a murder now and then -- so don't think you knew them, and don't think you should love them unconsciously, and don't think that you should be their pal . We'll tell you all their terrible deeds . We'll tell you"the truth" and you will love us for that ... "because the 'truth' shall set you 'free' " , and then you'll love us for setting you "free" (i.e. destroying your childhood retroactively) ." . So no, no , this is not G1 .
