The longest stage in the game is actually in Chile, the stage called Pulperia, at a whopping 34.8 km or nearly 22 miles. "It's not about being competitive, it's about enjoying the experience ". Profound words and philosophy, don't you wish more sim racers understood this? So many racers have their experience ruined by an over-competitive racer who cannot accept that they just aren't good enough to run at the front, can't accept they have been passed, aren't placed where they 'deserve'. IRL any given race is filled with drivers that don't expect to win, but they enjoy finding their limits but without ruining other drivers races. Vintage/historic races in particular are where it's all about experience, with a pinch of competitive spirit added to keep it from being processional. I wish more sim racers understood this and drive with respect for others...good one Jimmer, you are still a premier ambassador for the sim world!

What if my experiential enjoyment comes from winning, am I not allowed to enjoy the game in my own way? If you're in racing for the experience, surely getting spun out is apart of that, and you can embrace it. But if I'm in the race to try and win, taking it easy and not going for broke is the antithesis of my enjoyment. Now, that being said I only play offline, and I mostly enjoy time trialing Nurburgring, so I'm never going to be punting into the side of your car in a virtual race. But it's kind of curious how some forms of enjoyment are apparently more valid than others...
@Thuddster
@Thuddster 8 ай бұрын
@@theKashConnoisseur Right, so the hell with anyone else's enjoyment racing with others online, all that matters is my goal and enjoyment. If I spin you out, well sucks to be you. Got it. I wonder what the Sim Racing Steward's take is on this. What say, Jimmer?
@theKashConnoisseur
@theKashConnoisseur 8 ай бұрын
@@Thuddster what, so you can enjoy driving for the experience but people who enjoy winning can't be competitive? Also, like I said, I don't play online. You'll never see me in a race. I'm simply posing the question, why are competitive people not allowed to push hard for the win, if that's how they get enjoyment from the game? Rubbing is racing, it's been apart of the sport long before computers were invented. You can have your leisurely sim driving experience at the back of the pack just the same as at the front.
@Thuddster
@Thuddster 8 ай бұрын
@@theKashConnoisseur Racing with respect for others on the track is key. One can be competitive while also respecting other's racing is where it's at. Chome-horn, bounce-passing, and pitting a fellow competitor in the name of 'being competitive' is not cool. Of course, close racing will have contact at times, but it has to be tempered with self-control too. Developing respect for other racers on track comes easier for some than for others. Race clean m8!

I'm typing this comment with sweaty armpits and an aching back after what has been the most fun session behind the virtual wheel since I can remember. Well said, EA WRC is actually great game and definitely does not deserve all this hate. In full motion rig with proper H-patter and sequential it is extremely immersive. Also the telemetry model is great, big step up from DR2.0, stages are very well made and feel live - driving it in motion rig feels amazing. For me personally it is well worth all the time I put into it as it is very fun, interesting and has lot of new content compared to all the other WRC games I usually drive - quite refreshing.

I've been having a lot of fun with this game Jimmy actually sold me on it when it first came out and he did a few stages. One superficial gripe I have with it is that the particle effects are really underwhelming. Even in dry conditions on a gravel stage the dust being lifted behind the car is comically small, given how actual rally cars kick up a 50 meter cloud of dust sometimes. It makes the replays looks like a toy car is going around

But you've always said, the great thing about sim racing is that it lets you do things you can't do IRL. And yeah, you're in GT4 (hopefully GT3 at some point, right?!) but you're right, you will never get a chance to drive a Group B car in anger (among many others) and that's true for everyone, even Max Verstappen, ya know? I love racing on Dirt rally 2.0 to this day. Hop into my rig and slap a vr headset on and start slinging my 911 around those corners (with telepathic rear engine prediction correction) and after a tough stage I literally have to go walk around and get some water because my face is covered in sweat from working the wheel so fast

Jimmy reminds me so much of Richard Hammond when I see him driving sim. Something about how much fun he's having \

Ah, the era of group B. Other drivers used to dislike having to follow a Quattro (especially the S1) through a non-tarmac special stage because of the way the Audi used to tear up the road surface. I think it was Stig Blomqvist who once said something along the lines of "these are the same stages, with the same rocks and the same trees, that we drove last year with 137 horsepower. But now we have 450 horsepower." Makes you think, doesn't it?

I do admit, the Audi is one of my favourites too. and that turbo noise with all the wastegate chirps releasing that 21psi ish of boost when you come off it! just music.

The late Ken Block drove this rare AUDI rally car for a few spins while he was in Germany, as a gift from AUDI, after signing the contract with them. It was his favorite Rally car. RIP Ken

The reason behind the passion and admiration for certain cars and certain generations, is imperfections. Imperfections give cars their character, and the character is what draws us to them.

Just drove this beast for the first time in ea wrc and it is the ultra hard mode of this game for me. But after 6-7 stages I started feeling it better and sometimes even finish a stage from the first try. Still, it requires full concentration.
