I studied physiotherapy in the UK where the tutors spoke a ton of crap about Chiropractors and Osteopaths. I always thought that was very unprofessional. I have been a patient of both Chiropractors and Osteopaths. It was thanks to an Osteopath that I decided to study Physiotherapy. Osteopaths and Chiropractors they do not only work with manipulations which may or may not make the spine "click". They also use stretches, exercises just like us Physios do. They use the same studies as we Physios do. There is a reason why there is an industry for Chiropractors and Osteopaths, it works. It works with pain, sometimes it has even avoided surgeries to patients. I have been a patient and I have met patients of Chiropractors and Osteopaths, it works, period. Physios must learn to work with and respect other disciplines and its professionals.

I totally agree with everything that you have said! And please do note that at no point in this video do we particularly suggest that chiropractors and osteopaths are wrong/to blame in this video Many physiotherapists use the terms above in a negative way and I will happily admit that and challenge them as much as any other professional

Chiropractic in the UK and the US are very different, but that doesn't mean that there isn't a whole bunch of quackery mixed in. I actually find it very hard to find good evidence based physio for this reason. The UK lets a lot more stuff fly under the radar that would be obvious pseudoscience elsewhere in Europe. I have no problem with spinal manipulation or massage as they offer relief, but relief is not a long-term strategy for reducing and removing pain.

I agree with all the info mentioned in this video. The comment below mentioned the expected unchanged answer all the time I quote "More studies need to be done to be able to make a definitive conclusion". Luckily KZbin does not show the dislike of thumb anymore because if they do, I bet you will get 100 dislikes from the chiropractors from the first 2 minutes of this video 🤣. That is why Evidence-based practice is the best way to follow to get the best outcomes.

Does that mean chiropractic care is more of a symptomatic treatment, similar to ultrasound? But I wonder, can spinal manipulation alone induce proper spinal alignment?

This is why I have no faith in chiropractors. I went to one because I was in a lot of pain on my right shoulder. All throughout college, I couldn't carry my textbooks in a shoulder backpack I had to get a rolling one. Backpacking in the woods was agony. I went to him twice. He did nothing for me. It was during my PTA program that I was really paying attention to my body and figured out I have a mild form of scoliosis. Even my massage therapist the first time I went to her she was like do you have schoolyosis?

What makes me wonder is that I doubt chiropractors don’t know that fact after all those years of studying 🤔 if that’s the case , why the majority (not all ) of them keep telling us otherwise . Is it true that the profession needs to be so unethical in order for them to make money

The reason it hasn't been totally rejected as a general treatment method for musculoskeletal problems, is that the most studies about the effectiveness of chiropractic treatment have been carried out and evaluated by chiropractors themselves and their conclusion is of course "more studies need to be done to be able to make a definitive conclusion" this has been done for decades now and it continues as long as it can be done this way.

It’s certainly a challenge within many professions including physiotherapy!
