this is so interesting, because recently I've found that happiness requires self-control, not only about material achievements. being able to achieve something after doing some work is good, but when life brings us a certain kind of moment that challenges us to choose between good or bad; right or wrong, the right answer comes from our ability to reflect, to track back our memories n get the lessons then make choices based on respect. respect to ourselves n respect others. this thought also leads me to a kind of understanding about the reason why people in the ancient world "create" the narrative of God. i think it is because the thinker in that era already knew the pattern of unhappiness, and they knew that human needs a kind of illusion about hopes. dictating human about right n wrong; do n don't; good n bad won't be listened unless you have a kind of authority to "preach" people or to dictate the mass through law, that's why they serve it through analogical stories. they spice the source of unhappiness with fear and the source of happiness with joy. when i see the teaching of spiritual wisdom in this perspective, i've found a lot of similarities between them. i also can see that there's so much misleading concept in understanding wisdom and the reason why religious people have a tendency to be irrational. while actually, if the teaching is right, the wisdom from every religion is so good. it can be a source of free therapy for every mental problem. for example, in psychology i learn that unfulfilled expectations might lead people to misery, sadness, dissatisfaction, and in some cases, it might causing trauma. people with poor self-boundaries n self-respect might be trapped into a toxic relationship because emotional pain makes us prone to addiction. to solve this problem, every religion has the answer.. which is about self-control towards WANTS. just because reality doesn't happen the way we WANT, doesn't mean it's wrong. we should learn to see things objectively n make decisions based on "truth". some religion "punished" them who are unable to control want with a label of being greed or under the possession of greed, while other religion punished the inability to control our wants with the narrative of bad karma or any terms of God's punishment. while in my perspective, all these teachings are trying to tell about what we can control n not, what we should let go and how to let go. i think it's so interesting n so cool. all these teachings are thousands year older than us but still relevant. whoever creates all these narrative must be a hardcore thinker in their era. lol! this topic is so interesting, professor. i enjoyed this talk a lot. thank you.

Pozdrav
