I wish Alton Towers would open the grounds, gardens and a coffee shop, over winter, I’d pay like at other parks, to just walk round looking at the trees and wildlife, take some photos and just enjoy it with a totally different ambience. It's at a point where Alton towers coaster lineup is not strong enough to forget about flats. While I do think that they need a new rollercoaster, it needs to be MAJOR! A ground up RMC like Aerie Force One or untamed. Neither are that tall and have fantastic Layouts. But they need a good 3-4 flat rides before any of that. What park operates without a pirate ship? Even the most basic park has that. They should have replaced that right away.

I don't understand why theme parks in the UK don't invest in good food products. Always overpriced garbage and then they say "customers aren't spending enough". The crazy thing is they could improve the quality of food, make it cheaper and most likely make more money off that than the stuff on offer. Don't get me wrong, I'm not there for the food but I'd love to be able to not worry about planning what food I will eat along with the trip at large. They always deliver on the big things but have forgotten the little things and they're what matter.

I like your speculation about possibly a duel deal for 2027. Very well presented. If I was coming up for a theme it would be fantasy cave themed that leads to a lost ecosystem or an ice world. I think caves and ice could look very pretty with lighting and water effects and could be a great theme to be open during the winter.

I love Uncharted at Portaventura and think a similar coaster for AT would be ace... I just hope that the queues are better in the UK! I stayed in the park in October at PA this year and we were so lucky to be right next to the coaster as the queues were generally 2hrs+ at all times, and we were lucky enough to be in the park and off the ride within 30 minutes!

They really don't think through the 2025 opening. They already knew Nemesis was getting reborn for 2024 and thought they'd have another £10-15m on top of £10m+ for Nemesis Reborn. I do think this is gonna be a world/Europe/UK first. During an interview John Wardley said new ride technology is "coming along here" aka Alton Towers. Thinking it's some form of SFX coaster with a first of a kind trick track or element.

In my opinion, I think that Project Horizon (SW9) at Alton Towers Resort could be a part of a new medieval themed-area, which might be a re-theme of The World of David Williams, with the addition of a few new flat rides. As for the coaster type, I predict that it could be a Vekoma Multi-Launch Family coaster.

Thanks for the update, Shawn. Also, I just wanted to ask whilst I'm here if there are any updates on if the Skyride at Alton Towers is due to reopen for 2025. The skyride definitely needs to reopen ASAP to be honest, because travelling around this massive theme park on foot all day long is very tiring after a bit. It's also difficult for people with mobility issues as well. Looking forward to checking out the new HUSS Top Spin ride in Forbidden Valley, but quite sad about loosing The Blade pirate ship ride as well. Some major changes clearly coming to the Alton Towers Resort over the next few years.

For one the seating would be 3 rows of 4, the cars would be able to spin in the direction you want , it can have multiple launches, quicker transitions, and it would be completely indoors with hopefully themeing and show scenes inside. And obviously it wouldn’t have a drop track to not take away from 13. If you look at something like Uncharted at port aventura - it is a completely different ride style to 13 but an amazing coaster the whole family can enjoy, but a little more thrilling than something like 13, and allows for more themeing and dark ride experiences

Also funny that the SFX coaster is practically the same thing as those next gen Intamin rides, but then without inversions and they actually work. 😅 Or do I make a very bold statement here. I still think something like Fire in the Hole at SDC would be perfect for Alton Towers. Family friendly indoor coasters are super popular. (Vogel Rok, Space Mountain etc.) I think something like that in a space theme can actually work.

I reckon Project Horizon is still happening, but at a slower rate than envisaged. Clearly the space is there, and it’s likely going to be big (there’s no doubt it’ll be Secret Weapon 9), but the park probably wants to invest in the upkeep of what they already have. They also desperately need more flat rides.

@@Yonel6969 2025 seems to be focusing on the new flat ride and the sky ride, I could potentially see the galactica retheme in 2026 along with the new junior coaster as that’s only a small addition, that way forbidden valley would then be complete and cohesive (minus the blade replacement) before their next new major addition

My worry is that if this is 2027, that’s going to potentially mean no more flats for another 4 years ! Realistically unless Towers do manage to get some more flats alongside these other additions, the park will be in no better shape

They might get a couple more flats for 2026 alongside the junior coaster - especially if they were smaller additions to replace the ones most recently removed. I’m sure they could do a multi purchase deal from Huss aswell to get them cheaper. A new swinging ship and a breakdance where Flávio’s were would be a great fit, and then it would only be 2 years till 2028 where they could fill the x sector plots. I’m very hopeful for this but honestly kind of doubt it as I’m also hoping for the galactica refurb for 2026 and that would be too many things for one year , and I would prioritise galactica over the flats to finish the forbidden valley area off nicely, finally haha. Still 3 years before more flats wouldn’t be the end of the world and I don’t think they should delay horizon any longer as it’s been too long without a new major coaster and I’d even take the new coaster for 2026 as more important than flats, especially if they go with the bluey theme it will be a big hit for families, make the park some much needed money for future investments, and add much needed capacity to ceebebies land. I think it’s also unfair to say the park would be in no better shape after these additions just because none of them are flats? They could easily become the best towers have ever been without the new flats - if they improve operations and availability, clean up some areas, sort galactica out , the sky ride is reopening, hex is back open, plus two new coasters! Flat rides can come after that when they need some cheaper investments

@ don’t take this the wrong way, but Towers never used to have this problem, but if you’re a little younger and only started visiting the park in the 2010s you wouldn’t realise there used to be *so* much to do. It’s pretty much a slog from coaster to coaster, with the occasional dark ride currently. It doesn’t make for a rounded day out and we shouldn’t accept it as such

@@stephballchange5050 I doubt they have ever had a better dark ride lineup than hex, curse , sub terra , (and gangsta granny I guess😂) apart from that the only thing they’ve lost is a log flume , and some flats - which will get replaced when the time is right. I personally don’t see how riding coasters is a slog unless you’re not a big fan of the big high thrill ones, but even then, there’s more 1.2m coasters than there ever has been.
