Back in the day hey, 2017 was my last cod off the pier, and they was at the very top. Its a Shame we can't fish up there anymore 😕

I can remember the first time I went sea fishing was back In 1968 with my uncle you could say I cut my teeth as far as sea fishing goes on a Sunday there would be 150 plus anglers on the pier. With good catches up and down the pier.. but now it is heartbreaking to see it in such a sorry state.

I wish it was like that now. I wasn't around in those days but I would of loved to be

You would have loved it cod in the winter months not uncommon to catch 6 to 10 in the 5 to 7lb mark have seen a few 20lb plus fish . Even whitting 1.1/2lb were common not the 8inch thing's we get now. Plenty of flatfish all year round the best place was up to 1st shelter. But all this was pre super trawlers destroying the seas . Yes there were trawlers but most were under 10mtr with 1 net sustainable fishing. I have not had a cod / codling from SE corner ie Thames Estuary for 7 year's now and I fish at least once a week all year . Now I have boarerd you good luck with your channel I will subscribe.
